  1. are you going to race them this season? if not you dont need darkness, just enjoy them and learn about them....if you are going to race youll get some good advise from this site...
  2. makes them moult very quickly so that they are not dropping to bits when racing...
  3. simulating the hours of daylight in winter.....
  4. i know that when pigeons are sat eggs they produce a small amount of milk shortly before they are due to hatch, and if they dont hatch it is absorbed into their system and they dont produce any more, just was wondering if the pair that have gone 4 days over still have the milk to feed with.....
  5. can anyone tell me if the yb i put under feeders will be ok...the feeders eggs should have hatched 4 days ago but they continued to sit the pot eggs till today when 2 eggs hatched, i took one yb from the parents and placed it with the feeders....will they feed/rear it ok or is the 4 days difference too much?

    orego stim pellets

yeah, agree they are a bit pricey.....and if i can get hold of the layer pellets again i wont be buying the bos pellets.....also found ybs were alot bigger/healthier on the chicken layer pellets.

    orego stim pellets

hi, yes ive been using the bos pellets, at first they wouldnt eat them but if gradually introduced they will. to be honest i saw no benifit to ybs fed by parents compared to other years when using different growing pellets, although i did notice the pigeons droppings were smaller and firmer (and pink) and i also think they are quite expensive for the amount you get...

    hawk

sorry to hear about your bird vining45....i know what its like to loose one and feel rage at the killer and the do gooders who protect them.........
  13. yes, at the side of nestcam it says SEE ALSO....down near the bottom it says birminghan city council.
  14. i think its the bbc who say that, good idea to complain to birmingham council and the rspb.....been reading how proud the coucil are of having such a bird nesting in their area.....bunch of murdering ar**h***s need to be shown for what they are, and see how proud they are then... > > >
  15. been watching for the last few days and also noticed camera not working...so much for the royal society for the PROTECTION of birds, once again political correctness gone mad. they have turned the camera off to cover up their lies that these preditors are vegans....someone with missed placed ideas about the protection of these birds has decided to turn the camera off so we cant see these birds as the carniverous creatures they are, not the vegan they like to promote them as.... EVERYONE WHO HAS HAD AN INTEREST IN WATCHING THIS NESTCAM SHOULD EMAIL THE RSPB AND DEMAND TO KNOW WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE PIGEONS AND VOICE THEIR DISAPPROVAL.....I AM GOING TO IF I DONT SEE THE BIRDS BACK ON SOON.
  16. 50% management...50%pigeon.
  17. hi, just my opinion but once racing has started dont train widowhood cocks....excercise them round home unless the odd time you think they need a training toss.....
  18. i give my ybs one and a quarter ounce per day, they need good feeding when they are growing....dont know if you are going to race but you have to get the balance right, food for energy to race but not too much so they wont trap...
  19. hi chris, if they are 5 weeks old they should be able to fly around the loft so the sooner you can home them the better, before they are too strong on the wing. you want to be opening your loft door for them to walk out or just stand at the door so they came get familiar with the surroundind area.....just let them do this every day but dont be in a hurry to get them up flying as you want them to take note of landmarks and the area around your loft.....dont forget, do not feed before they go out and when feeding get them to recognise either a whistle or call to assosciate with food..... hope this helps....

  21. yes used the T.K.K. tablets couple of weeks before pairing up, about 15 mins after treatment couple of birds were sick.....nothing much but next time i will make sure they have no food before and after just in case this had anything to do with it. will use them again in future...
  22. nice ybs there pigeonman, hope they do well for you...
  23. for what its worth my oppinion is dont rush them, while they are outside looking around they are getting their bearings and noticing landmarks and certain things around your garden and loft...dont be in a rush to get them up flying, they will go when they are ready. :) ps... in reply to your question about them sitting on the house roof in the gutters.........no you dont want them doing this.
