hi greenlands, i agree with some of the others that its up to the individual birds as to when it matures........and i wouldnt worry too much over it. i have a pair which always breeds hens that behave/act like cocks and anyone would swear they were. i wouldnt bother too much over it but ive found that sometimes when pairing up and they are not mature enough its a pain as they are not interested in the hens..........j.m.o.

thanks for the replies, i dont know if it has been stopped, the time on the clock says 9.20 and there is a clock roll still in with a time printed on it......the clock is not sealed. :-/ thanks......

been given an stb quartz, but can anyone tell me if the clock on it should be ticking/correct time with it having a battery........or if it only starts working when the clock is set and struck off ? thanks.

yes i agree frank, its very hard for a new starter to jump straight into pigeon racing when they have no experience ....your correct in saying they need to have a learning period to understand fully how to look after the pigeons.......

true, but get either system wrong and you arnt going to do anything.......fanciers need to keep them healthy, feed etc whichever system they use. yes widowhood is competative, but its the results that are achieved through flying widowhood that make it so competative........once the pigeons learn the system of widowhood the whole management routine is easier, for example you have to have a natural sitting eggs or on a yb just at the right time to send it in form/condition. also once racing has started you dont need to train widowhood cocks unless the fancier thinks they need the odd training toss, i know some fanciers do train them tho but thats up to their personal choice...

in my opinion flying widowhood is easier than flying natural, even for a novice as well..........

i use v/laga collumbine floor whitener, big bag lasts me ageas and its great stuff.......

i know an elderly fancier who purposely trains his ybs at dusk so they arive home just as its dark....this learns them to keep going he says, also another local man exercises his birds at night just as its getting dark....

always used straw, had no problems.........
