Anyone wanting to get into rollers would do really well to get hold of Graham Dexter's book "Winners with Spinners". It is full of great advice from many of the best flyers in the country. Everything you need to know on Breeding, Training and flying.

If it is a mature bird I would say it is definately not a westy. Looks more likely to be a roller. They are fairly easily homed so you should be able to fly it within a couple of weeks and finding out for sure.

I was visiting Malcolm Brown in Arrochar before the holidays. It was blowing a gale but all his birds were out, must have been 70 or maybe more. What a sight they were, really looked like they were in their element.

Hi Tam.
Its looking better for tomorrow. No wind, a little cloudy but should be dry. I gave the birds a wee bit of wheat today to do them till tomorrow.

Have been looking forward for a few weeks to letting some late breds I have been gifted out for the the first time. It's been blowing a gale all day. Hopefully better tomorrow.

Most of these folk with their comments dont realise its the hawks that have decimated the song birds from our gardens, its not just the pigeons that are suffering.

Up a lot of the fishing boats are crewed by Philpinos now, $600 a month. The boats cant get local lads to go to the fishing now. There are a few Poles and Latvians aswell. The worry is where do the future skippers come from.
