I think I will give it a try all the same. I have 4 racer here already that I got from a boy in Glasgow. They were un rung and never raced. I have been giving them tosses up to 20 miles for the last few months and havn't lost one yet (probably shouldn't have said that). They will be used as feeders once I get some real birds to breed. There are certainly dozens of buzzards around but they never even look at the pigeons. As I said, I have a pal in Perth that cant fly anymore due to losses and know of other boys in the same situation elsewhere so I dont think I am in the worst position, as far as BOP's are concerned. Time will tell. Al.

There are already some cracking birds in Northern Ireland. There is a boy the with some birds direct from Dave Moseley. He is on the WWW.NBRA.CO.UK web site. you might get a contact from there. Al.

I would sometimes fly mine with the rollers but they never really cottoned on. The were from show stock though. Al.

You quite often see them in adtrader. www.adtrader.co.uk Al.

Maybe we should persuade Hogni to move to Oban, that would be FOUR

When I first got pigeons a few years ago I was given a couple of show wests. They were good flyers but I only ever saw one of the tumble. He did it for a few days and stopped again. They were good flyers though. Al.

Hi chaps. Been talking to a few folk today and sussing out the options. (thanks for the chat Terry, will let you know as things progress) Not sure what way to go yet but I shouldnt be stuck. I have been flying rollers for a few years and the hawks in the immediate area arent too much of a problem. Lost a few last year to a falcon but havnt seen him atall this year. I have a pal in perth that hasnt been able to fly all year which is rather sad. As I say, still sussing things out. All the advice and help is much appreciated. Al.

I have done that before aswell, one way or another we can get them here. I have collected some from Glasgow in the past or sometime our local carriers have collected them, though with Amtrak it can be a bit of a nightmare. A few years ago I drove to Liesester and back to collect some rollers I was being lent for the winter. I wont tell you what the wife was calling me. It was a long drive there and back. Al

Thanks Madmax. Might have to have myself a wee road trip!! Al.

Thanks Tammy, I have pm'd you. Vallance, thank you also, I will get in touch as you say, much appreciated. Hi Dovescot, Dumbarton is about an hour and a half, somethime less. I will need to get in touch to see if it possible to race from a club which so far away, if they would even have me. I will keep looking into the options. Al.

As mentioned in another post I am hoping to get started with some racers. I have entered the Edinburgh One loft Race after some generous help from Kenny. I have also some birds coming in the spring from down south, though I am not sure what or when. I am looking for some birds to get me going just now. Preferably from Scotland as Amtrak dont deliver to me in Oban. Though I can get them collected from Glasgow if required, just takes a bit more organising, not always easy when dealing with Amtrak. Anyway, very much a novice when it comes to racers so just looking for some reasonable birds at a reasonable price to cut my teeth with and maybe have a go if I can find a club that would be willing to take me on. Al.

Thanks for the replies. Loch Lomond/Dumbarton is about an hour and a half from here, not very handy but possible?? I will try the SHU as suggested. Unfortunately there aren't any other pigeon men close at hand though I have a couple of pals that may be interested. A long way from the makings of a club though. Thanks again and any other input appreciated. Al.

Hi folks. I am up in Oban and planning to get involved in the Edinburgh One Loft Race, thanks to Kenny for his generous help. I would also like to get some birds and race from home but am not aware of any club near me. Any info on clubs or other possible options would be much appreciated. Al.

Hi Southerner. Enjoyed reading about your birds. Just out of interest, did any of the birds bred from the problem trapper inherit his problem? al.
