Thats not so handy, ou wont be hanging cable ties from these then Mick. Maybe the smarter ones will keep clear and in time you wont loose as many?

How near are the wires to the loft Mick? I have a pole right behind mine, about 6 ft away, with 3 or 4 wires coming from various directions but birds seem to have learnt to keep clear. Saw a loft recently with cable ties hanging from the wires to make them more visible, must be phone wires I suppose. Hope you can sort something out. Al.

The first eggs from her were even worse, really soft, no proper shell. They improved slightly each round till I got the 2 in the picture. They were the last she layed a couple of month ago. How would I tell if its an infection, how would it be traeted? Al.

Will try that next Tom, I will pull the dummies next week and give her a couple of weeks, more calcium in the mean time too.

Actually 3 or 4 year old. Had her seperated before too Alan, still nothing. I have stuck 2 dummies under her just now which they are sitting, will leave them for a week or so then pull them. Dont know if it might give them a wee push.

Tried Calciboost Alan, didnt seem to make a difference.3 or 4 year old I think.

I have a hen I got for stock that layed odd shaped eggs, the shells had a rough finish and none developed. She has stopped laying altogether now. Any ideas on what might be worth trying. She is in with the rest of the birds that are laying fine, gets grit and minerals etc. Al.

I have actually had 3 in the last 2 years up here. Delivered 2 of them down the raod myself as I around Glasgow area reasonably regular with work and family. I enjoyed seeing their lofts and birds and picking their brains so it was no hardship atall. . 3rd one was a bit more hassle to get away and no gratitude atall. Al.

Try the revolving orange light pal. I was getting hammered daily but since i got the beacon the sparrow hawks not been back Touch wood!!!!!!!!!
