  1. thats right mate. a founder breed that helped create the helmet pigeon..... thats 2 smart a***s ! LOL
  2. all looking well mate.
  3. In my opinion - I like to take 3 rounds of youngsters from a pair. The natural breeding season for pigeons is springtime. I like to pair the birds in Feb. and be finished by august. As soon as my birds are parted the moult really gets going the main period being august till October. I always work in even numbers for e.g. 6 pairs = 6 cocks and 6 hens. There are however always exceptions and it is never as cut and dry as that in my loft. Last year I veered from most of the above in 1 way or another. For e.g. Last year One of my pairs was split after only 2 rounds and Because of holidays I did not finish breeding till September. Also this year I have some spare hens that I do not want to part with but I will not be pairing them up with anything.

  17. 2 things interested me about this news story. 1. pigeon fanciers raising that ammount of money for such a worthy charity. 2. the queen's birds cant be very sought after ? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/north_east/3593353.stm

  19. my birds love em . would fully recommend them as nesting material.
  20. the partner bit is very true . mine loved me and hated women. (greys/parrots quite often take a shine to one particular gender). when my youngest daugter was badly bitten i had to let 'ernie' go to a good home. greys are a massive commitment ,they need a lot of TLC and can live as long as humans. mine was hand reared but by the sounds of it yours isnt.treats are the key to taming down.once you find out his favorte treat he/she will soon step up onto your hand............try grapes !
  21. praps you could engrave some with pigeons. you might even get some commissions from the members ? a member could mail you a pic of their favorite bird and you could engrave it on a glass at £10 a pop ! would work especially well if the pigeon had very distinctive makings like a pied. just an idea . it could boost your loft fund ?
  22. hard to tell from photo but i agree with chrissy. looks like a garden fantail without the fan.
