One of the local doo men noticed over the past week that his youngbirds were not right, so much so that he didn't race today. On investigation he found that on opening five bags of V/L Gerry Plus that all the bags were moving with insects inside. I dont know if this was the cause of his problem, but it maybe worth others checking this out if you have encountered any similar problems.
