settling in boxes
The White Rapido Man replied to lordcornwallis's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
I would split the cock and hens inot 2 sections ...allopw the cocks to settle and take a box of their own.......when you said cock id roosting and defending his box...pen the chosen hen in one side fora week..feed her and water her in there. If after a week it seems as though they have taken to each other....reverse the proceedure....and lock the cok in one side of his box. If the hen as taken to the cock she will return back to the 'said' nest box to be with him job done -

yes they can do mate...............I like a bird to be white from beak to toe nail to eliminate the chances of a throw back...but even then, its not a 100% cert. I have found that the Rapido strians are more likely to trow a gay pied or something than the Loguns....(if you got good loggies!) Clearly its and older strain, therefore the chances or throwback seem to be reduced. -

White Loguns for sale
The White Rapido Man replied to The White Rapido Man's topic in Birds For Sale
Yes mate.....but 2 have black tips on their tail feathers...... this dons't happen very often and when they shed these on their first moult and they come back white........would n't want anyone to think I was pullind a fast one though so I'll hand on to them until they mature abit.....all of others have gone thanks -
good idea to keep the pot egg as the adult birds can easily hold a test bowl that tightly......that the presuure on a single small babbie can kill it................or give it spread leg. even if only one egg hatches.....I always keep it ithe bow until the youngun is big and fat ;D

FYI x 5 pairs and x 2 squeakers spoken for..........subject to recipet of payment thanks -
FAO all those people who had previously contacted me regarding the sale of some of my Loguns, when I mentioned that I was contemplating selling a few:- I am now in a position to say that 9 pairs will definately be going, due to overstocking ( three pairs are secured already for to some PB members) For those who contacted me previously, these are few pictures I promised to post. They are £25 per bird...............some are r.r.p.a rung ....others are not. Amtrak to be arranged by buyers The price is the same. I have also about 4 very late bred birds...still squeaking, that could settled with ease.....If anyone who is interested in these please pm me..............again £25 each most are 07 birds...with a few 06's Those people who emailed me.......(you know who you are) Please pm again to confirm puchase. First to come first serve I'm afraid. many thanks TWRM

sounds ok to me. I have a few early bred 07's.....................and they are doing well with the older cocks
-
Assuming they are not late 07 breds and are sexually matured, I would pen them in the box toether... Turn the next pan upside down so the hen can get away from the driving cock if he's 'at her'............. once paired...up turn the bowl..put a nest felt init..and starw in the box..they will love it!! Add a drop wheatgerm oil to the seed.....(this will up the sex drive). You should know if they are paired as they will be sat next to each other..and will bill and kliss eack other..............check on them at night...as if they are paired..they will be snugglled up together. If the cock and han had been split before you got them...they should be bang at it straight away......usually once paired....they will lay withing 8 - 12 day. 1 egg first...usually at arounf 4-5 oclock......the second usually its laid the next night. The cock will sit tight in the bowl and coo his back wheels off at the hen...who if she's rank......will be displaying back him good luck

thanks....................we'll just have to see how the babbies fly!!!! The older lads really seem to know how to whoo the young girls ;D ;D ;D..and all the young fellas want to do is ragg their hens for dear life!!!!!!! ........................the more subtle approach helps with the onset of age ;D

For anyone novice wanting to good general advise on feeding, systems and health from various different flyers......have a look on YouTube Type in racing pigeons and there are 10 minute clips galore... I have viewed many this afternoon...and found some very imformative.... At least that way you're not buying expensive dvd'd from one guy, who may have different views to that of another. ..................just though I'd share that with you ;)

compact..............tidy.............and extremely clean.. love the set up mate...................

very true.....................sustainable and regular........no..........more money than racing.............yes In London its massive......I am semi- rural Lincolnshire (not the most cosmopolitan place in the world).....and have been trading for a good few years now and am well established locally which is the key.....once people get to hear about it, then you are laughing.......I am a chartered surveyor by trade.....and when I got busier, I passed the whole thing onto the wife........she does the girly thing with the basket designs and cages which is all part and parcel.......and deal with the birds. I am almost booked up solid for summer 2008 already.......but I tend to stop sept / oct time...as the birds drop to bits in the moult, and arn't in good enough nick to send to a 'momenteous occasion' Early on I realisd that I would make the same if I flew 10 miles or 100 miles...so in actual fact only fly my birds locally.......but have set up mutual franchises with the other release companies who pick up my national bookings for me. Then the focus is not on the birds....but on how you advertising ;) The best thing I did was get into a local chain of funeral directors.....the main crem is only 1.5 miles from my lofts..........and this I would say constutes about 20% of my work. Every now and then you can jump on a biggie which is a bonus......I am just in the process of organisng a 50 bird release in March for n openening of a new shopping centre down south in March..........well worth having...........thats for sure I only started doing it, to pay for the corn...I love my birds and to see a huge flock of whites batched up around house takes some beating on a barmy summers teatime It was never meant to make mega bucks, but from getting my corn for free, I progresed to a new loft....and from there I progressed to a fortnights warm holiday every year.... 8)...so I'm happy with that......what more could one want. ...................I enjoy my birds......make a bob or two......and its cost me £15 a month in corn
