I was told by an old hand that the redder the skin the better the peanut.......I was also told to avoid the pale skinned peanuts like the plague. They are getting price thought at the moment..... I've just paid £nearly £8 for 7 kilo's........... :o

.............yes infact half of my whites are currently paired up in another section as we speak, and the Yb's will be transfered into the YB section with the race team and trained collectively, albiet they will be trained in a radius of the loft...and the racing birds will be on the South Rd Luckily I have white stock in another location, just incase the unthinkable ever happened....

Thanks for your nice comments Davey. As I am trying to form the nucleus of my own race team, I have not been too worried about about keeping the several strains I keep together, and have gone more on instinct, if you know what I mean...............some birds just seem suited don't they....and I dont know why!!!! The dark pair you refer to is...Hen - Karel Herman..... Cock - Dordain (excuse spelling if wrong) The heavily whattled cock is a 10 year old Van Loon to a Karel Herman Hen...he's a Beautifull big old boy...... The Cheq cock is a KH as is the hen.... I have tried to obtain the best I can and the K'Hs and Van loon were originally form the stock lofts of the Ward Bros in South Emsall, who I know to have flown well in recent years......... The proof, however..will be in the flying

Was extremly chuffed to find that all my matched pairs have taken......15 pairs all in all. I locked the hens in one side of the cocks boxes for a week......vice versa with the cocks for another week...............then together for 3 days. :D I open up the doors this mornign and was really pleased to see that all the cocks have started to build nests, and billing and cooing going on throughout. Perhaps no big deal, but it will be my first years racing next year, so in past years with my Whites I have quite relaxed in my approach to breeding........ This year.....I'm on!!!!!! Members of Foxhills FC.....................watch out ;D ;D I have attached a few pictuers if anyones interested.

The toe thing does work...but you can make the toes read whatever you weant it to if you dont apply even pressure when pushing them together.........YB's toes are only small....so its hard to be sure... its either a hen .....or a 'willy woofter'................as someone mentioned....you'll soon see ;D looks 'cocky' in the head to me......hens are usually more domed..... time will tell matey!!!

1. If a pigeon can fly away from you with ease.......it will......if you have large flights and high ceilings in the loft the birds will flit about, and effectively go wild. 2. If they are getting harrased by cats or vermin at night...or being frightened while you are not there - this will cause theym to be nervous 3. Food - one of the way to gain control of your birds if through their food.....keep em hungry for a couple of days........you'll soon see that the wildest of birds will eat out of hand and be handled if its hungry enough

Whats happening then??? I understand certain cheaters had spoiled the intial judging.....but now I no nothing.... has it been cancellled???...............judged or what??

red skinned peanuts.....great for pigeons......high in protein and fat. They will go barmy for them..... I feed them as a treat a coule now and then..and when fedding youngesters I ice a few more to richen the milk. Over feeding peanuts can have an adverse aeefct on the bird.......but its more the excessive quantities of protien that is harmfull to the bird...as aposed the the peanut itself.

simple...............................get a length of string about 20 inches long...... get a small strip of lead about 2 inches by half an inch and tap a hop in one end.... Tie the string to the lead. Now you have a piece of string with a piece lead hanginfg from it. Hold the bird in need of sexing, and carfully hang the 'pedulum' between the birds shoulder. There should be no movement in the lead. Keep perfectly still, lift the lead si its about 2 inches away form the birds feathers and the lead will slowly start to move on its own..................if it rotates in a circle...............its a cock..............if it rotates side to side...........its a hen. If you get the technique right...this can be 99.9% correct. how it works I couldnt tell you ................but work it does

so I can can crack a round off simultaneously I have found the following to for me. 1. cocks and hens are split from September 2. 2 week before actual pairing I lock the selected hens in one side of the nest box, which the designated cock has comendered........ 3. after a week it should be visible that the cock and hen have taken, as they will be close in the box...dispalying at each other and nibbling thought the plastic.... once I am sure this is the case I lock the cock in one side of his nest box for a week, and let the hen out.. 4. Normally she will return back to the same box if paired......After 2 fustrating weeks of seeing each other and not touch......when you unlock the door.......it all happens in unison....... !!!!! I have found that I usually get mine chipping with 2 or 3 days of each other...... there other ways......but it works for me

I refuse to get into a debate over this.............my advert has served its purpose....and I am 'more' than satisfied with the out come....so I rest my case I shall continue to word threads how I feel fit, and reply to any forthcoming critizitism accordingly should it arise........... should anyone wish to discuss this matter further...please feel free to pm me thankyou one and all for your responces...amd views..................................

My point exactly.......................... but certain people fail to see further than their own noses. :-/

how many birds really dpeends on what your intended use is.........if its just to fly a few fancies out of uit then ic would comfortably house 10 ......

dampness in a loft is the route to all evil......Dampness breeds germs......cocci in particular...
-
quite true..........................the birds must return home safely...that is the most important point!!! My birds are trained regualrly and have dones so within a 60 mile 'radius' of the lofts...... Unscrupulous releasers dont have a clue and will send anything to an occasion to make a quick buck............................these birds invariably starve to death, adn they have no homiong instincts to get home.....failing that they hang about where they have been released causing a nuisance..and are generally disposed of as pest...... > > >... that is not what we are about

Flagyl is a perscribed drug..........and not readily available............... I found this out when I tried to obtain some as I though it would be cheaper than Spartix.

Assuming that the top tips do not just relate to health.... If you are finding that your nestlings are dying on you for no apparant reason at all.....make sure that you don't have a security light facing into your stock loft!!!!!. This happend to me a few years ago......I kept lost most of my first round.... .then I sussed that when the next door neighbours light came on.....the birds were nipping down for a drink......when the light suddenly turned off.....the grounded birds were plunged into complete darkness.......and could n't get back to their nest boxes...................babies chilled................and subsequently died. no illness.............just a simple oversight!!!!

Oh dear................here we go again..... > > ...............and I couldn't disagree with you more......................................... > As you may or may not be aware, my wife and I own a very successfull dove release company, and have done for several years.....Due to my continued business concerns it is very rare that I sell my whites to anyone...........despite being continually asked by all and sundry................particulary members of this forum. When ...on the rare occasions I do....I am EXTREMELY selective AND CAUTIOUS about who I sell to...and more importantly..........where they are from...... ...................SENSIBLE OR NOT???? How can I guage this.......if I expose birds to the 'open market' for sale...................simply I can't..............NOT THAT ABSURD IS IT??......I AM APPLYING SOME PLAIN & SIMPLE - 'SUBTLE' BUSINESS SENCE...... IF .......and WHEN........ I decide to sell birds...I now have a list of people who I can approach...........thats why it was left open ended........ Thank you to all those who have replied.......as discused I be be in touch in due course. So now you see an this opened ended advert - is not as vaigue as it seems.....and to me...makes perfect sence. For this who wish to de-rail an honest thread......please read bewteen the lines before posting.

Please Note: This is not for definate, but I am 'contemplating' letting a few pairs of Pure White Loguns go, as I am currently sat on over 22 pairs. some are rrpa rung.....and some are not.... This ad is to ascertain who 'would' be interested if I decide to go a head.. there could be 7 pairs of these are stunning birds. I would be looking for £25 per bird plus amtrak. Like I say, I am only testing the water here, and would like to hear from any 'potential interested buyers...whos names I will collate,.....so that I can contact them should I decide to sell.. thanks TWRM

I think you'll be lucky to see him again............................I never get any returned if they are white......... once lost 14 in a flyaway......not even one phone call

you may want to breed yourself a few more YB's to account for losses etc....its just you dont seem to have many birds to race with.. best of luck with your breeding mate, I hope all goes acording to plan
