I had an album in the 80's with the Lotus Eaters on it and this... Jimmy the Hoover https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=jimmy+the+hoover+tantalise

My mate has been studying old books and the old bloodlines from years gone bye and he is certain that reds and meallies where prominent considering they are in the minority in the convoy. I think he has a point.
-
Thanks for that, you do seem to see a lot of reds and mealy's winning now and historically, but considering that they make up a small percentage of the convoy they do pop up alot.
-
Del, how influential do you think Reds and Mealys in general have been in molding the Scottish distance blood from years gone by in the history of the SNFC pigeons?
-
Brilliant, here is some of The Cure Classic,

As this was a latebred the seller can't be responsible, but a good seller would give a replacement bird. I wouldn't blame the seller because a latebred is barren.

It doesn't need to be that dark you can't see your hand in front of you.

Lanarkshire Social Circle - Quiz Night Friday 27Th February

Great night, the panel were first class with their answers and the banter was brilliant (pitty I was driving),well done to all the LSC and the committee who gave up their time to organize this well run moot. -
100% absolutely, moving birds from one loft to another will give green dropping for a couple of days, they probably didn't eat much the first day. Any change can cause this, going without a feed for whatever reason, a change in the feeding supplier, coming home from a hard race, all can give green droppings, but they should quickly recover to normal droppings.
-
Basically the perfect droppings are round pebble shaped brown with a white bit in it,first light is the best time to study them before they have been trampled, a sprinkling of small down feathers on top of the droppings is the icing on the cake, poor droppings are usually loose or even watery and a varied shade of green. Any bird can have an off day for whatever reason, but if the droppings are poor for a number of days with no reason, then you may have to look at why.
-
The real reason this has blown out of proportion is the lack of information coming from the committee, a lot of members went to the AGM not knowing anything about the issues regarding the Ypres race, The committee investigation and outcome should have been on the agenda at the AGM and all members would be informed and could comment on this and at least we could all walk away with the facts. But as it has all been kept under the radar as much as possible the members only have hearsay and gossip to play with, the committee are determined to avoid an EGM, why what would be the harm in having one? they even used the club funds to seek legal advise, it would have been easier to have an EGM and get this out in the open, but the committee are avoiding it like the plague, why???? This breeds supposition, hence the runaway train.
-
That bit puzzles me, the convoyor couldn't be called to the committee meeting because he resigned, and within a few months he is the president! He must he resigned then rejoined and allowed to rejoin without facing the committee on the current outstanding issues??? Their is two sides to every store and we haven't heard the whole, an EGM would have allowed both sided to be heard and all the members to hear it.
-
I'm fed up with this whole thing, reading the SNFC statement, they have denied the EGM on a technicality, and posted a committee's investigation on the issue, but an EGM would have given a platform for both sided to be aired and the truth sought. but the level the committee have gone to to avoid the EGM leave many feeling that their is more to this. If Gareth is so wrong (not that I think he is) then this needs investigated further, they can't just leave it like this.IMO

I don't think I have any that could do it, are you telling me you don't rate the birds that have done it? if so I think your on your own on that thought. I take it your not interested in distance racing then ?
-
If the birds have all been paired together from last year then go for it, if they are new pairings you will need to keep each pair away from the others until they are settled and the plastic fronts can help hold each pair locked in their box. Google Images "widowhood nest boxes" and you will see pictures of how they should look.
-
This is the basic concept of the widowhood system, their are many tweeks that can be done, but the guy is clearly a novice and was asking the question.
-
Every pigeon that has done it has been remembered and placed in the highest regard by all the true distance fanciers, yes it's an endurance test, but that is was makes it so prestigious and the few birds that complete it are given superstar status.
-
The basic widowhood system means they cocks and hens are kept in seperate ends of the loft with the cocks staying in the next box section, then on a Friday you put them together before basketing for a race.Google it.
-
I googled widowhood nest boxes and got this when I selected images. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=widowhood+boxes&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=t6rnVLMQppHsBp2sgJgN&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1525&bih=645&dpr=0.9

While the romance of timing from 1000 miles appeals to most distance fanciers including me, should we not be getting the numbers at our longest race up and if this happened the SNFC or the SNRPC could maybe run a race getting transported with the Barcelona or whoever the same way we do with the longest race, you could still double into the Barcelona club or whoever we went with.

Yes I saw that on the news, they are saying the law isn't doing enough to protect BOP and a small percentage of people are actually getting found guilty.
-
Harry and Percy pull enough flights out, without us pulling any more.
-
I have seen a video of this and pulling the tail of a young bird is not my cup of tea.
