  1. when i started i got stock birds, if i was to start again tomoz i'd get stock birds again, if you've got the room it's better to bread your own i think, it's fun breeding, wondering what you'll get, watching em grow, and if you win something with a bird you bred yourself it will give you a lot of pride. the way young bird racing seems to go for a lot of people these day's you may not have any left to breed off and will be in the same position next year, but if you've got a couple of pairs of breeders, and lose most of your young you can raise a few latebreds yourself. it might work out cheaper for you in the long run as a stock bird could be with you for over 10 yrs.
  2. i'll have a go, bergerac will be my racepiont 513mls.
  3. just had a look on google earth and it say's 806/8 miles . not bad

  7. the angle's not the best but here she is, she is nice in the hand, small and compact
  8. i got a photo of the gran mother here as well(another grizzle) but i don't want to clog up the thread. lol
  9. why not lol snap a son of the last grizzle
  10. sorry oldyellow that's a dark cock. next picture is a grizzle.
  11. thanks blue chequer here's 1 of my grizzle tournier's
  12. cracking grizzle oldyellow, i like grizzles. this was my fav, but hawk had him last year training, busschaert x padfields won a few races and scored nearly every week also had a 2nd+3rd sect in wse nats. if you put your hand in his box he'd try and rip it off lol.
  13. thanks oldyellow, as a yearling from brussels instead of going in the loft she came to me in the garden.lol (i think she loved me) as she had no mate.
  14. she's one of my favourites. she was born the year i started and she was the first pigeon to fly the channel for me, as a yearling from brussels(on the day) on the southeast route. she as since flown tarbes 614mls and palamos 753mls. and is going to barcelona this year(if all goes well in the build up).
  15. this cost me about £400 to build myself the loft is 16ftx6ft this is a look in side
  16. on the whole i think it's been a pretty good debate, keep it up.
  17. asha when you called them t**** i think that was over the top mate.
  18. hi hotrod, i did'nt mean that because of were i live it's because i'm only just getting the long distance racing(i've only sent to 3 races over 420 mls) and to get a bird on the day from 500 mls would be another step towards my goal.if i was worried about were i live i don't think i'd be entering birds into the bbc or nfc races .
  19. anything over 500 mls on the day would be the holy grail to me.
  20. no long distance racing is easy, only a fool would think that. i probaly got a bit carried away after listening to a few scots say they had the toughest route. i know it's just as bad down here were i live for hawks and what av you, so i was sticking up for my part of the world which vary rarely get's a mention but is a very hard place to compete against the english.
  21. i think it will be a close game, i would'nt like to say who'll win.
  22. sorry walter, i've never hear'd of her, but if she was 30 hrs before the next bird i'll guess rome or barcelona.
  23. oh no hotrod, lerwick is diffrent, your birds are liberated over land and have a hundred or so miles before they reach the water, but lerwick is only a small island in the middle of the sea with land a hundred miles away at the shortest point. and i did'nt say it was easy then, so stop making things up.
  24. hahaha i won't need them, i love the outdoors. being a keen seafisherman(only in the winter since i've had the birds) all my life. when we had that snow the other day i went up the mountains for drive i love it.
  25. i have a lot of admiration for them birds because that is a tough race point, maybe because many in wales don't fly it anymore(or don't they go there at all anymore), it does'nt get thought of as much these days. i was only thinking of south road racing. but thinking about ti the wind don't normally help neither does it.
