budgie have you ever done controling before??? you have got to relise your birds are at 280mls probably looking at a 7/8hr fly for the leading birds the controller has got to try and predict what the weather is going to be in that time and the forcast was not good so stop your moaning and abide by your race controllers decision he is only looking after the pigeons

    K Index

just a nother bit of onfo if the k index is predicted to be a 3 or 4 k birds should be okay but if rises above 5k then we have what they call disturbed geomagnetic conditions I personaly usually check before going training and if it is high I dont train that day

    K Index

problem with cme,s they can predict when they are due to hit the earth but not an exact time with cme it could last upto 3hrs or less or 24hrs if we could get exact times then race controllers could delay libs until the geomagnetics settled down but as I have said you would have fanciers going daft because you could have a great weather forcast but you were delaying the lib because of something coming from the sun but I think It needs a serious debate and get more opions on the matter

    K Index

regarding the k index I have studied this for atleast 15 years and it does affect the pigeons I get daily bulletins from the s.i.d.c now on the 1st of june there was a cme erupted from the sun heading for earth due to arrive on june 4th now on the 2nd june a furher cme erupted from the sun which was larger than the one on 1st june with this being larger it had a faster wind stream and would catch up with the one that erupted on 1st june resulting in a larger cme due to hit the earth on 4th june now I am race controller for midlothian fed and olso one of the controllers for the s.n.f.c on friday I spoke to Jim Hannah about the forcast for the saturday told him the forcast looked good but we might have a bit of cloud cover at race point early morning I said that is the good part but we are going to hit on saturday with a magnetic storm from the sun but unfortunetly we could not hold the pigeons because the fanciers would think we were nuts and would get linched possibly this was the cause possibly not but a awful lot of organisations took a hammering just food for thought

sent 22 to marlborough 3 next morning 1 today 18 missing
  20. could be one of these strange phenomans that happen with no explanation if you remember back to last year a similar thing happened with the young birds the first week in august when practilly every fed in scotland that day got a bad race with a lot of youngsters missing we will probably never know the answer maybe somebody does like bigda???
  21. you have to go with the majority and if the majority of the feds are flying east thenthat is the route we should be flying
  22. I am one of the race controllers for the s.n.f.c and at the marking I spoke to some fanciers about what I feared may happen as this was the farthest west that most of the convoy had been for a long time that the n/east wind which was between 10/12mph at liberation that the birds could head into wales and probably ireland and believe birds are getting reported in these areas my opinion is if we are flying down the east route we have to keep our pigeons on a simalar line this moving race points here there and every where is no good we have to get stability in the race programes and I believe this needs to happen for sake of the pigeons jmo

    Sundays.Returns..

I had said to some people my biggest fear was with the race point being the farthest west that the bulk of the pigeons had been for a long time with the n/east wind tthat the pigeons could end up in wales and once they get into the welsh valleys they just keep going I think that a lot of pigeons will be in ireland jmo

    Sundays.Returns..

got my first one this morning at 6am now got 3/22 hope some more turn up
  25. probably with the n/east wind half the convoy could have went to far west and could be in ireland but time will tell hope you get some back
