Simeon & John Turner (Parkside Lofts) – Sheffield Major Reduction Sale Due to my Father (John) moving from Sheffield and moving to live here in Chesterfield (where I Live), we have made the decision to fly the pigeons from my back door, and finish at the allotment in Sheffield where we have had over 20 very enjoyable years. As a result of this we have to drastically reduce our team of stock and race birds. Over the past few months we have been deliberating which birds to take, and have decided that we will keep 12 pairs of stock birds and just 18 pairs of race birds. The race team will be made up of all this years youngsters, plus a few 08 birds to make the numbers up. This year has been another super season for us, with us ending up being Premier Prize Winners in both Saturday clubs that we fly, winning from 100 – 475 Miles in both. This year we have had 15 x 1st plus many, many other positions in the top 4 in both clubs. Our team of pigeons is basically our own breed based upon various strains of Janssen type birds that have been added to the team over the years, we also have the odd Jan Aarden for the distance and a few Gaby Vandenabeeles. The birds on offer are the best of what we own and we have taken sons and daughters with us to the new lofts – that is how highly we rate them. If it wasn’t for us moving these birds would not be for sale and it this has made the decision ever harder to come to. For the past 3 or 4 years we have sold young birds out of our race team and every year we have had winners reported, with many people coming back the following year for more youngsters, they have been that happy with them. Have to agree with you there - We are in the fortunate position that our pigeons win from the first to the last race and always prefer the distance racing. Won the 500 miles race in both clubs (Again this year), 2 seperate liberations on same day with 2 seperate birds, both flying over 14 1/2 hours on the wing........... Incidentally we have won thw combined averages etc etc more times than I care to remember, but I always judge our season on the nyumber of points and races we have won - not just one race!!!!!!!!

Fair comment, but would you sooner win the 500 mile race and the averages and be bottom of the result every other week, or not time in one race but win say 10 x 1st plus other positions and be highest points winner ? I know which I would prefer!

In the clubs I fly in the best flier i.e. top loft is decided on points, not averages you get 4 for a win 3 for a second , 2 for a third 1 for a forth. We also have averages, but how many times are they won just because someone has timed in every race (and this is by no means being disrepectful to anyone)

Horses for Courses, all that proves is one is good at shorter distance, the other at longer distances!

I had a bird picked up by Pigeon Force on Tuesday 10am - met Daryl at Leeds where I work on Wednesday Lunchtime Superb service and pigeom was in tip top condition. Will definately use again and would recommend then to anyone

Sent 11 to Kettering with Stocksbridge Fed - 73 miles - Got 4 on Saturday, 2 Sunday - 5 Missing. Sent 12 to Windrush with Central Derbyshire Fed - 108 Miles - Got 5 on saturday, 1 Sunday - 6 Missing. So out of 23 sent got 12 back - 11 missing Shocker - these birds had been well trained and out of the ones missing, there were some crackers - oh well, try again next week.
