  1. I didnae pick that up Stuart. I thought after yesterday he'd put that one to bed. Not saying the sections/regions are perfect, but he will need to have a change of tact if he want the status quo altered. There wasnae an any other business bit at the end, would have like to have forwarded we change region and section back over again Region A,South Section Can anyone shine some light on why that was actually changed ?
  2. Not one for going abroad, but thats a place I would like to go Wullie
  3. Must admit I thought it was mad when I first heard it mentioned on here, but after looking at it and listening to some talk on the subject I think it is possible.Would certainly be an interesting challenge and the winners would be very worthy ones indeed. Not sure its a venture the SNFC would ever entertain, maybe try and attract a bigger audience?? Theres a lot of talk of international racing these days, more Scottish lads getting geared up to try their hand at it and with the interest in a lot of these water races around the Islands in the Meditteranean and the Atlantic, its maybe no as daft an idea as some would like to think
  4. http://www.silvio-co.com/pigeons/bayo.htm Here an article on a pigeon known as 'Bayo Casablanca' In 2002 this pigeon flew 665 miles over sea.Libbed at 0730 and clocked at 0915 the following morning
  5. Hope yer back soon Archie get well
  6. Can't disagree with you there John Now this Region thing is dead and buried I'm sure Phil, with the right help, will do good by the SNFC.Hopefully he will be given the respect at future meetings a president deserves, regardless of what people think of him.
  7. That was one of the biggest dissapointments for me tae Andy. They are needing to do away with Maidstone and Leicester as well. This 'stepping stone' patter and it helps small feds is a complete load of nonsense.I really like J.B and think he is one of the greatest fliers of all time but have to disagree with him on this one. The young bird national wasn't even discussed at the meeting
  8. looks like hes gettin gubbed noo
  9. For my benefit can someone confirm that the longest race is to be Tours with MNFC on the 6th of July?? Marking Tuesday? Didn't pick it up at the meeting
  10. very intersting How do ye pronunce this one?- Cwmgwrach
  11. Don't know about entertaining Stevie I'm home to a couple of paracetamol Inclined to agree with Knox and Tiger
  12. yep I think the right decision has been made regarding the region change.
  13. To me it's a shame that Davie Elliot's proposal to drop Newbury wasn't carried, but its not something I'll be losing sleep over. Thats it for another year Best of luck to all competing in 2013
  14. Yer tyre picked a fine day fer that one No quite at the diggin to the hut stage yet but it was getting pretty hairy up in Avonbrig when I shut up the doos. Don't think theres a lot more snow forecast through the night or tomorrow,so meeting should be attended as normal would think.
  15. No chance Stuart. Just heard a traffic update on the radio, apparently theres a massive tailback on the A1 behind a few dozen huskie drawn sleighs
  16. Apologies John.Didnae mean to uncover one of the Hood secrets They're a nice wee squad, handled some the other day and was pleasantly surprised. In the words of Vincent O'Brien their muscles have muscles I'm sure his horses werenae chased aboot aw day wi a sparra hawk mind you
  17. Took a wee round of latebreds last year, after seeing how they've turned out I'm beginning to agree wi what Billy Endflight King used to say-Latebreds are the future Might no be saying that come June and July mind you
  18. Got a few of the white ones as well. Not a patch on our home made box perches mind you Muttley thought we'd started racing ostriches when he seen them
  19. That makes sense Ye better no go mentioning he was a baker to the Irish lads on the other site or they'll be at you for his cake mix
  20. I knew I had something on it somewhere. Billy Gardiner’s 1965 winner was a pigeon called ‘Sky Queen’. Can’t find anything with a list of her performances but have been told she was the bird that was 2nd to ‘Blue Blitz’ the year before. The year she won ‘Blue Blitz was 2nd and the Horsburghs were 4th open with a pigeon known as ‘Fechan Girl’ who went on to be 17th Rennes 1966, 172nd Rennes and 70th Open Nantes. Over four seasons the Horsburgh loft was 1st and 3rd Open Rennes with ‘Fechan Lass’, 3rd Open Nantes and 4th Open Rennes. Some interesting stuff on their preparation techniques, but I’d be here all night typing it. In the article it points out that them and Billy Gardiner set an example for training on the road at a time when the motor car and hard training were little used. The times ‘Fechan Lass’ scored from Rennes she was given 4 races to 222miles then 5 tosses in the days up to the race-three at 72 miles and two at 40 miles.
  21. Lead to believe the 2nd open winner was the doo that won it for W.T.Gardiner the following year, swapping places with Blue Blitz. If this is the case I cannae see there having been a top three like this in the history of the race.2 x 1st and 2nd Winners and 1st and 3rd
  22. Liege in Belgium looks to have been the most spread Gold Cup race this century. 1st Section C 2nd Section A 3rd Section B 5th Section F 7th Section E 9th Section D 57th Section G Not saying its the way to go or not.Would like to see a bit of stability regardless of whats chosen-three gold cup racepoints in three years is a bit of a nonsense
