  1. One for the future that John. Well done those in tonight. I've been through this race a thoosand times in my head today. Sometimes I got a doo, other times a didnae. In reality it turns out I didnae Up early tomorrow
  2. Hopefully the doos willnae have to listen to the original French version this evening The forecasts are that varied I'm not sure what to think. Got to hope there will be doos up here tonight, if one of them happens to be the big man '1010' then your da will nae doubt hear me
  3. the doos would be well by Jersey at that that time Rab (to be sang in the voice of Matt Monro) "To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrow To run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong To love pure and chaste from afar To try when your arms are too weary To reach the unreachable star" Best of luck all who entered
  4. Good stuff. I've missed him on the phone a couple of times, wasnae sure if he was still away. Will give him a phone a night this week. Best of luck
  5. Best of luck Robbie and all who enter. The forecast I'm seeing at the moment looks like a Saturday race into a north wind. Is Bob in Ibiza Robbie?
  6. There has to be a line somewhere Frank and as a point of interest Hughie was in the West Region before he was in the Northwest fed. Hughie is a dedicated pigeon fancier and a nicer man you won't meet. Well done Hughie and Ruby.
  7. Well done Billy and all who timed. Congratulations to Tommy Blair on seeing off the Cortachy team and again winning the Federation Old Bird Average - an absolute wizard with pigeons
  8. top class 41mph
  9. looks like a stiff race that will go on well into tomorrow. Alan White, Hetton Le Hole in at 2015 Another of the very best Bourges lofts in the Northeast
  10. great stuff
  11. so is it half past they are in Mick?
  12. heard two times for Evans, Dixon, Gibbon and partners - not sure which is correct. 1930 or 1920? If it's 1920 this would beat Marshall and Smith's bird as they get 11 miles overfly. great pigeons and great fanciers either way. It will all come out in the wash.
  13. Cheers all Lewis
  14. If they were Northwest pigeons they weren't the leaders. Could be anything but may be Central Fed doos that were up 15 mins after Northwest from the same site?
  15. To my mind the first inland national racepoint was the least significant when viewing the race programmes up for discussion at the AGM. Had the committee's suggested programme incorporated Alencon and Clermont as Friday races, it was the best 7 race programme I'd seen for the club. The main advantage being Ypres was three weeks after Maidstone, a week before Clermont and on a different weekend from the longest race. Something I'd like the committee men on here to think about is proposing the exact same programme next year, with Alencon and Clermont scheduled for a Friday, and the first Inland racepoint as Peterborough. Peterborough would benefit the club no end in my opinion. Without looking particularly hard I know of at least three federations that will be there the same day as Buckingham and many more at a similar distance. In theory it would maximise entries and the returns from this racepoint would far surpass those from the likes of Newbury or similar distance, which would in turn have a knock on effect in the following races. I've spoken to a number of people who believe the first inland national to be too far for Scottish pigeon racing in the present day.I've said as long as I've been a member on this forum the race should be removed from the calendar, but I accept it's obviously here to stay and in monetary terms I think Peterborough makes sense and could go a long way to keeping costs down for the SNFC as well Scottish federations.
  16. The points you have raised were discussed at the last delegates meeting as well. For all one race would be a straight forward way of doing it, it was decided by the majority present it would limit the breeder/buyer to NW fed members and discouarage fanciers from outwith the fed from attending. It was also suggested that the breeder/buyer race be from the SNFC Yb National- but I'm sure you can see the problems that would arise from that as well without me telling you. So all in all the judge method will have to suffice and be along the lines of how the S.H.U pick; the Dewar Trophy Winner, best old up to 300miles, best young bird etc.
  17. Have read about doos like George Stubbs' 'Trixie' that scored from the Faroe Island and San Sebastian as well as Wing Commander Rayner's bird that scored from Lerwick and Pau within an 18 day period. It will be interesing to see how you get on with it
  18. Groats - it was the GENIUS that is Phillip Hastie that introduced me to them. "If they are good enough for race horses, they are good enough for pigeons" This year is the first time I've used them in any notable quantity and the young are up with finest reared I have seen
  19. A bit of character in the heads of a few of your dark ones - best of luck with them in the coming season
  20. Enjoyed your Webster write up and photos Grasshopper
  21. I've seen some calamitous attempts with 'droppers' in the past It makes all the difference if you have the right tools for the job
  22. He's a funny looking wee thing Best of luck, hope it goes to plan
