No way better fanciers, just willing to try a different approuch
-
How right you are even 100miles each week then jump into 700mile racing works well
-
Hi geordie, think you will find aussies only race youngbirds ,and a few old birds if they have any left
-
You need to put time in...never belive the lies many winning fanciers con you with...esecially youngbird racing...time is everything for winners of youngbird races...until you get way out distance racing ..everthing changes then the football pitch we play on begins to level up...many many times i have seen brilliant sprint teams hit a brick wall as they reach outside their distance controlled comfort zone... best Regards
-
We tried just that ..no racing as yougbirds ...no racing as yearlings...as 2year olds flew very well north, then south... i blue cock won 50 mile sprint in 35 member club...and as broken pigeon few years later won 2nd section out of Barcelona well over 700 miles, another in same batch has flew Barcelona 3 times ...just shows at those distances its all PIGEON..not fancier...Regards..

Indeed the medical professions have for a decade or more been trying to cut down on their use .Shame the very same medical "so called" professionals were they ones giving antibiotics out like sweets for 50 years before...i s**t on them!!!!...

I Wonder What Colour Young Bird I Will Get
tommy2 replied to kraftykev's topic in Breeding, Strains & Families
Have you ever tried to raced these birds kev?would be intresting to see how they have shaped up racing mate -
so 54 oldbirds and your only club /fed racing....what about the classic, nfc, bbc, bicc
-
i totally agree with you, crazy numbers, but thats how it is now,its only going to get worst year by year, working fanciers are leaving the sport by the bucketful...just look at the top flyers down here ..never work..huge and i mean huge lofts...
-
just go to locals near you like mr and mrs mears/ray strawbridge mate...minutes away with the finest exteme distance birdsb you could wish for
-
..Not totally correct sir.the formula although well acknowledged throughout pigeon literature, could only ever be proven by test matings over huge timescale using massive numbers.
-
i think down here ,to be competetive you need at least 100 plus youngbirds min, then 50+cocks and 50+hensmin for oldbird season, plus 35pairs of stock to bred your youngbird teams/but more important than that...time factor is everything, everything,if you want to compete right through....family and friends must come poor 2nd to the birds..i know its not very nice reading ,but its the way to go... if you boys need to work your on the backfoot before you start/
-
Grizzle is not a colour mate, your better of breeding a grizzle with a blue or mealy to get a better strike rate than 2 grizzles paired together
-
thanks for that Sparko, very intresting mate, thats the good thing about the internet, meeting people...best of luck
-
Hi Sparko,What would be more intresting would be yourself telling us how you train and what type of race programme you boys fly?,looking at Iceland it seemsabout 300 miles long/200miles high, mountainous inland, perhaps your races traverse around/along the coastline..would be intresting on how you look after them, with very cold winters?and aaround the clock daylight in seasdon....could you give us lads insight into your racing and the problems you need to overcome...many thanks...by the way..i think..dont worry about type of racers....just see what surveve and breed around these...
-
Dont belive anything you read mate..nothing more than an insuranve fraude or just another way of hype a name up...
-
this sports not dying mate, far from it ,club fed type racing a thing of the past, those days are closeing fast, and good job to,lets hope it goes down taking all the conmen the rpra allows to rip off normal fanciers also, national distance racing will always survive,it just got to be restructured in a way that distance boys get as level a PLAYING FIELD AS POSSIBLE,SO SOUTHROAD RACING THROUGH FRANCE MUST BE CLOSED DOWN AND ALL RACING GOES INTO THE EAST through belgiem germany poland, not perfect but fairer for you jocks when you compete against us southern boys, it will have to happen but only will when the money making types are booted out.
-
Your right Pete, nothing wrong with ply mate....all those lofts made by eco lofts ect..useing cheap crap T&G are awful, they all open up, split, rot and are a disgrace,, If you can get your hands on Galvanised,or box profile 2nd hand roofing sheets, clad front, sides back and top....far far superior than any of the crap lofts you see advertised in the pigeon comics and will last a lifetime at least..there you go.. From the Heart..
-
Loft does not have to be bright mate, sounds like you got to much as it is,try to think as a pigeon, you may like it bright and airy, but not the birds ,no way, nice little dark corners where they can hide away whats you looking for, they need to feel safe in the loft, not seeing whats or whos walking around outside trying to get in
-
thankyou neila,OWEN will give good sound advice.but time is everything mate, backgarden working fanciers got their work cut out to compete against the household names who do not work and have 24/7 avalible, but specialise in 1 discipline, perhaps extreem distance and boy its good when you destroy the big names ,funny how they still get the writeup even thou you have kicked their ass, consistancy is why,and us small boys are up against it,
-
do not try to put words in my mouth sunshine,i could do a stool sample test, then a swab test, and give the chap an honest view of whats wrong with the bird/or birds...deweert and other pocket emptyers will certainly be economical with the truth and find plenty of reasons to put their hands in this fanciers pocket
-
your having a laugh mate, one brief look tells me they cant see the difference between coocci and worm egg.its pathetic,id jump through that lot with my eyes shut
-
never ever have baths in the loft,if you think your birds look rough now wait till the damp takes hold .your cocci and worm count will explode, then canker will rocket mate---as for deweert and the other vets, all they want is to put their hand in your pocket, why do people on this forum expect inexperienced fanciers to throw money at problems such as these,if you cannot give sensible, cost effective advice perhaps you boys should refrane from posting
-
keep your money in your pocket mate
