  11. Wonderful day at darts Lad that beat me first game with an 18 and two 15 darts legs was different class He went on to win the final 5-3 In the semi he and his opponent were a joy to watch 4-1 did not reflect the quality of players 2 x17 1x14 and 2x13 dart legs with outstanding out shots Good decision to go out as it's still chucking it down from the heavens Happy days
  12. Thanks Derek Tough decision though lol
  13. Can't get aviary finished on new stock loft because of weather ,been out for lunch with wife so me and my mate have decided to head out to darts singles tournament today in Moffat think they have full entry of 64 May as well make a donation and a wee Guinness What else could a man do on a day like this lol
  14. No stevie The south did not have a marking station then ,personally feel the racing was better because birds were well mixed Used to go up to old A74 and wait in layby for jimmy graham clintpark to take the clocks up to get read Think I will have to get them back on whisky it's the new drink fly limit that worries me lol
  15. Thanks John I was 21 then I also timed three hens next morning if memory serves me correctly 5-20 ,6-20,6-40 ? All hens were flying to chipping eggs or one day old chick They were fed all year with haiths XL mix but two weeks prior to race they got high content of New Zealand maples Just plain water john I didn't no of anything else ,if they had canker in the throat I cleared it with a cotton bud and whisky not Johnny walkers as it made them to slow the whisky also thinned the blood which was beneficial I took the birds to get raced marked at hamilton and was star struck with the fanciers sending never thinking I would get so close to glory Atb mick
  16. Looks like it may have fallen onto his aviary at some point lol
  17. It certainly was a stiff one Davy with only 32 on the night dream pigeons when their still flying into a NW wind after 16 hours
  18. I'm sure Eddie s Little miss Muffet was named because he singled it up from moffat Back in those days when you got a performance pigeon you could gaurantee it would be there the following year it never entered your mind that you would lose it If only we could turn the clock back I still have that blood in the loft When blue hen 1900 was 10 years old she bred a blue hen that topped fed for me ,when she was 10 yo I bred a blue wf cock I have pigeons bred from him when he was 16 lost him of loft when he was 18 yo The sire side was from mc Ivor brothers famous Tinto goldmine One flew well for a well known lanarkshire fancier and sadly went down from France this year
  19. Thanks Derek Both hens came direct South at speed and low The blue hen at 10-12 16 1/2 hours on wing nearly hit wires 100 yds from loft because of darkness she then sat on loft roof as it was dark inside I ran and got torch off my mother and she dropped onto landing where I picked her up ,I was drinking cup of tea my mother had brought up to keep me warm don't think the cup was ever found lol Hope to experience it once again my friend but trying to keep hold of a good one is a bloody nightmare Atb mick
  20. Thanks,My daughter was only six months old ,my weekly wage was £28 The blue hen 1900 had scored the previous year at Rennes and again in 1980 All on the shift ,I only had enough money to pool her but you can imagine my delight at lifting 360 odd pounds My cousin ben scott clocked 3 on the night he won 3 gold awards during those years the hen I clocked first that night was a late bred from Ben ,sure I also clocked another 3 very early next morning The great Jack Wylie beat me that night but I can still remember those massive hands off his shaking my hand and saying someday son you will appreciate how good your pigeons were last night at the clock reading Wonderful memories on a bloody cold night
  21. Happy Birthday to my good friend Gibby All the best to one of the sports Gentlemen Atb From Mick
  22. At my present address loft has to face South but does not get evening sun because of house At previous address it was L shaped facing south south east and got sun all day (if it appeared ) lol As for form that ones a mystery to me some seasons it's just there ,others for some unknown reason it never appears Although personally I hit form better in good summers
  23. The way my racing loft is designed no water can enter regardless of weather I removed the sliding polycarbonate under landing full length during winter because with building new stock loft ,stock birds increased numbers in racing loft hence more airflow, once stock are back in new loft polycarbonate will be replaced for various reasons As I only breed off stock at present I have found that racing cocks celibate they perform well without use off black or pink minerals and they never get grit either ,stock never get grit or minerals during winter months birds are all in excellent condition Sure all the things I have tried through the years have just been fads or a waste of money for better use of the English language lol Everyone to their own at this game Sure the top lofts have the one thing in common ,Better Pigeons
  24. Put a loft up for a fancier in a town you no very well last year Was down last Saturday looking at something The sun was shining but it was Baltic All doors and windows were upvc double glazed the stock birds are down to nest and when stepping inside it felt like the med Appreciate where your coming from Atb mick
