No what your going through Derek ,all the hard work ruined by cats ,bet half aren't even looked after ,even after a hawk attack the birds settle very well in a short space of time ,even got my daughters dog which is 2yo trained to enter the loft with me and walk amongst the birds with no problems but Mr cat big problem ,i used to let the birds sun themselves in removable cages each day until the neighbour's cats came over the loft roof and scared them ,couldn't even get them to come of there perches at feeding time,so rules are now very simple everyone entitled to there own pets but not in micks garden end of problem ,hope your Yb's will be OK ,Good Luck

Harry Redknapp during the press conference before the second leg against hearts had a wee cheap laugh at Scottish football stating that perhaps our under developed footballers needed to be taking some porridge ,did his sorry so called footballers no get humped of the park by man city WHAT GOES ROUND COMES ROUND ,those who laugh the least laugh the longest ,by the way he could get a part in spitting image .

Word seems to be spreading in the pigeon world about the homing value in a bag of Moffat chips ,as the Lady who owns and runs it and has done for more than 60 years hands small leftovers to here brother who stays close by,He feeds stray pigeons on the scraps and catches rung birds in a small trap he has put together then appears at my door with them for me to have released ,brought over a pentland cheq cock last week in fine form ,(must have had double portions)The bird was liberated north of crawford and cleared well heading in the Edinburgh direction ,Only to reappear inside his trap looking for a haddock and chips ,will now have it liberated at Edinburgh this coming week ,He has promised to give it a chicken supper if it returns or has asked if someone in the pentland area would like to no how to make proper fish suppers and stop it from straying .

East is OK if you live in the east ,I was one of the people who pushed for our fed the solway to go east a few years ago,but now truly believe we should be on line and go west ,bop everywhere now and multiplying each season ,prevailing winds at this time of year for Yb's is usually SW which means our convoy have to face into it to come back over the 66,whereas down the west they can hold line ,also far to many feds racing the east route with clashing a major problem for our small convoy ,believe yesterday we got a stinker and with birds not working today they must never have came over into the cumbria -solway area ,also yesterday the solway birds that did come on line must have crossed swords with the midlothian birds somewhere in cumbria ,as i fly the same distance into moffat from both race points and they were liberated at the same time, there were certainly small groups and single birds working up through moffat which must have been midlothian as midland would have been well clear by then ,but bird of prey strikes every few miles now is certainly the governing factor ,forget about all this sun flair nonsense ,must have been no solar activity in the good old days ? certainly were no peregrines

2ml of baytril to 1 ltr of water for 3 days problem solved ,but got to agree with Owen if ventilation is ok and no overcrowding should not encounter the problem .Good Luck . ps if using baytril it must be along with the water measured spot on otherwise dangerous stuff .
-
Sorry to read of such news Gareth ,I will gladly donate a set of boxes and perches if he wishes to restart ,time this country reintroduced the birch would solve the problem overnight.
-
Thanks may need it ,although they are in good order just the 3 week lay off that concerns me ,hoping the SW wind up there jaxxy may help ,would rather winter birds that have raced than one's that ain't but that's just me ,got a few new one's need trying out and until they beat my own they ain't getting no favours ,good luck for tomorrow
-
Danny i would say every race-point the length and breadth of the country and beyond including Messac are bad in crap weather ,also think the yb's that don't leave the liberation sites from any fed should be classed in the category ILL WHEN SENT jmo

Very interesting point regarding widowhood ,raced red cock through to national as youngster 220 mls ,then this year as a yearling he has competed in another 2 nationals out to 352 mls also included racing the fed programme ,yet others with only couple of races then stopped all down ? My thinking if racing Yb's natural when season starts to get colder up here and they are heavy in moult then there racing days are numbered ,cant understand stopping darkness birds after few races surely they are bred so they have the advantage to win in the longest races or why the hassle of breeding early .
-
Going back to darkies again next year ,tried natural this year hoping they would not take sickness ,but in fact took lot longer to recover ,and certainly with tonight outside looking like november naturals 0 chance against a fit and healthy team of darkies ,good luck with the baldies tomorrow
-
They are as every bit as scared as the pigeon when getting a boot in the skull Hate does not even start to describe how i feel about them
-
Think at the end of the day if the fancier studies the breeding of his performance pigeons they will all be bred for the job ,bet there aint many if any at all bred from cr--

Lockerbie RPC 7 members sent 190 birds to Ripon Solway Fed .
-
Sent 25 to Ripon 114 miles with Solway ,there first race for 3 weeks since sickness but got to go ain't keeping a loft full of good lookers for the winter unless they have raced ,bracing myself for a fall time will tell .By the way it has been last few hours like a November night .

Time Scottish Football got back to basics and develop young home grown talent ,to many so called by the newspapers foreign stars playing here when in fact they are all has been's ,I thought the idea of Celtic and Rangers having such modern development facilities was to bring through good youngsters,THAT MUST BE 10 YEARS NOW WHERE ARE THEY
-
Well Done Robert ,got them going well .
-
Would agree with you there ,Dennis Anderson never raced a youngster and won the Scottish averages 2 years running ,when he only needed a time in from the ybn he jumped a selected few the 200 odd mls and got a time in ,do think if they are not raced have got to be really well educated with preferably club mates birds to learn them to break without being to far of line ,I tried not racing some last year they were not trained as youngsters and developed into wonderful yearling have been training them all summer if that's what you call it ,and am left at present with 5 from 28 ,so definitely never keep them a winter ever again without being educated as youngsters, suppose it was common sense really a kid dis nae start the school at 10 year old jmo
