yeboah replied to kraftykev's topic in Health & Feeding
Agree 100% with your post,Prefer Baytril 2ml to 1,Ltr water for 3 days ,have had Yb's ill on the Sunday then after treated winning on the Saturday wonderful product if used sensibly -
I attended a pigeon presentation and moot last weekend in the Newcastle area and listening to the panel they had some terrible Yb losses ,so east ain't the holly grail some would like us to believe

No Middle for us,A1 East,M6 West ,Simples

With the Solway Federation AGM this coming Sunday ,and a proposal being put to the members prior to voting on the race programme that we stick to the chosen route for 3 years and give the birds a chance to settle to a programme, then the vote for the proposed route's 3 of them it will come down to East v West and with the fed split on this one it will be a very close call,I would personally not like to call this one ,all depends on who are willing to turn up ,I no which i prefer but if beaten will just get on with it .

When arriving home one lunch time to the farm where i used to live on the outskirts of moffat, friends from wales who owned a caravan next to my house came rushing out to tell me that whilst having there breakfast outside on the decked area earlier in the morning they had seen something move far away across the field and had got out there binoculars to see what it was ,they said they then followed for the next hour a pigeon walking very slowly towards them until it finally arrived at my garden fence where it was unable to fly over with being so weak,it then walked along the field until it reached my garden gate walked under it and up the garden path they said if i made my way to the loft it would be waiting,it was a grizzle cock just a bundle of feathers lost the previous week from cheltenham 240 mls, over the following weeks it really picked up and started to chase a young hen all over the sky,i entered it back into our fed race from France where it won 1st yearling in the club,Now that is what i call a Super Pigeon

Well Said Walter,Its the buzz we all get on a Saturday as our birds arrive home that keeps us going whether they are winners or not its the taking part that counts,Walter you have put more into the administration side in a few years than some have done in a lifetime with getting all club members ets and the federation a new transporter so be very proud of your achievements

Since moving my racing loft from my late parents house to my present address my aim was to prove to myself that i could still win the club flying 16 miles north of first drop ,that i have achieved, then i won 1st fed flying 30 miles north of first drop,my aim then was to win first section SNFC ,I have not quite managed that one yet although I have achieved 2nd 3rd and 4th so getting there, once the family of doos are established get back to the good old days of clocking them for fun from 500 miles, but a lot of hard work and heartaches to get there ,but god loves a try-er (I Hope )

Jimmy Dals ,Hoddam Dynamo 1st and 3rd open SNFC 500 MILES Also anyone who owns a pigeon that consistently wins year after year at club and fed level
-
To be consistent at club level ,then the rest should follow with form (and the right birds )
-
Of out to get lofts spic and span, then continue work on new widowhood sections.
-
Heavy at present.
-
I handle them all individually ,then separate them into separate sections ,after then keeping an eye on them when visiting the loft you will find that like myself and after 40 years in the sport STILL GET IT WRONG
-
RIP If some of the so called heavyweights of today were to sit down and watch a video of joe in action they would pack in ,he gave his all ,pure class.

Hope you are having a great day and night

Linda and staff at the Scottish homing union fought a thankless battle for years trying to make headway, biggest problem was just when they got to no a particular politician and thought they were going places he or she would be moved on to another posting and they had to start afresh with the newcomer ,It took the rspb 10 years to get full protection grade (A) European law into place for the peregrine falcon ,so good luck to all, hope they are in for the long haul as things regarding removal of protection ain't going to change overnight .

Hello,if your loft is dry should never be any need for cocci treatment,if birds are in good order with silky feathering no need to worm, but i always always treat for canker when they are sitting 10 day eggs then you are sure of healthy youngsters,no good starting to treat if all is not well with the squabs ,to me that would then be to late ,omo .
