I have been fortunate throughout the years to have owned some very special pigeons I think the following Blue hen deserves a wee mention SU 75 SN 1900 gold cup Rennes 1978 North west wind 16th Section 66th open flying 14hours 40min 7298 Birds gold cup Rennes 1979 North west wind 8th Section 31st Open Flying 16 hours 27 minutes. 7268 birds Gold Cup Rennes 1980 North west wind 68th section 334th open Flying 15hours 20minutes. 7359 birds A wonderful pigeon who had multiple club prizes and never a night out in its racing life

Jack Wylie was still alive and clocked his 2nd gold cup winner it was the lady mrs shillinglaw that had passed away Jack also timed dickie harkness gold cup winner as Dickie was poorly and housebound Jack let me handle the mealy cock which was one of the finest birds I have handled to this day Jack also timed one of Dickie 's as his own arrived but still went ahead with the timing with no regard for himself being second one of the all time greats a True Gentleman

Scottish Fanciers Self Destructing
yeboah replied to peter pandy's topic in Clubs/Organisations Topics & Events
Peter I wrote a letter to a well known scribe in 1990 regarding the nightmare I was experiencing regards peregrine falcons there was talk of it appearing in the pictorial ,I also had the tv and newspapers involved but overall was just laughed at because it was MY problem joe blogs around me was ok so carry on regardless ,fast forward 23years now they are established in many many towns and cities with I would say not even the RSPB know the true figures as their breeding is now totally out of control,Our fed for the first time in god knows how many years went to the coast with high expectations at our agm only a very small handful made it because of huge losses ,same with the youngsters total wipeout yet the majority of fanciers totally refuse to accept the real problem and come up with Micky mouse excuses ,Even heard a fancier state at the national dinner that Peregrine's were not a problem however he was drunk at the time ,Good luck to all and their theories which they are entitled to ,I in the meantime will stick to mine Yours in Sport Michael Currie .t -
We sat and spoke to Andy and Ann on the Friday as always on the national weekend two lovely people Wish them all the best from the currie household Hard act to follow .
-
Big enough target Best wishes to your Son Derek for a speedy recovery .

Me and my mate John were just on the motorway this morning opposite Beattock heading south when a Peregrine took a Crow clean out of the sky as we approached she carried it straight over both lanes of the motorway what a sight wished it could have been on film ,She was an absolute beast of a hen falcon and carried the crow with ease Like I have said for years once the racing stops they will kill whatever they need to survive until the Prime Roast appears in the Spring .

Regarding your points ,agree company and craik first class meeting old and new friends ,breakfast always spot on ,The meal could perhaps be a tad better for the cost but I am easy pleased ,from my own personal point would after all the years of attending like to see the Guinness on draught in the function room rather than just Benny's bar also sure the bar stayed open in other years till last man standing shouted last orders at the early hour of 3am this time as me and wullie mac were plotting our future national winners but overall would not miss the occasion with or without food if only I could get ma Guinness Ps also hope your future winner is just around the corner .

Now if memory serves me correctly Para frae Kirkconnel won his section with the scottish national with a one eyed pigeon to me that is a true sign of eye sign that also blew the theory away that they only need the two
-
Another wonderful night stayed until they closed the bar As we come up each year on the Friday the wife's head off Saturday shopping at braehead centre Excellent hotel and the occasion was a wee bit special as I had a trophy to collect Must thank John hood snr for the gift he handed to me very thoughtful a true gentleman

I would think if the birds did not get a line into England they would have to much water to cross then follow the coast and end up in Norway especially in a sw wind also would be crossing over tens of thousands of birds racing into belguim holland ask Stefan van moubrek at national dinner and he will confirm that . Let's get back to Rennes where the gold cup should be from Snfc history at its best .
-
That's where birds should be racing from straight in the middle of England fair to all not hugging coastlines jmho
-
I personally couldn't call those races disasters got 100% from Newbury Cheltenham bovington , dropped one at Marlborough , I personally feel that to many birds thrown into the first national that should be on a perch at home ,The race program should be set for years used to be sartilly Rennes Nantes not all this changing every year ,would be very surprised with Lanarkshire racing the true centre route in 2014 any of there members wanting to swing there birds away of line for the nationals ? However I will go with the. Vote regardless and will be more than happy getting a wee turn noo.and then atb

Very true what you are stating Ricky ,Gold cup this year one day bird ,longest race one day bird ,previous longest race only single figures on open result ,Messac only a few dozen home in 3 days says it all ,For those who still think by dropping certain races will send the gold cup back to thousands as years ago in need of a wee reality check never never going to happen ,you only have to look at the English results only a very small fraction of convoy making it ,As for super returns doo games Knacked Mate .

All birds fed once daily 1ounce per bird which I feel is just right ,Don't get out much during the winter because of the obvious down here .,Hand bath them when required which also gives a good pointer as to there well being ,Breeders have been parted since June/July and are in fine fettle Installed a false ceiling throughout the apex along the lines of the coopers but not entirely happy in the yb section so will make a miner adjustment ,Going to install 1x1 galv mesh flooring with course sand and lime on floor once it has all been creosoted ,which will give me time at nights to watch the cocks and yb 's exercise when I finish work The best laid plans o mice and men lol .

I have noticed over the years that the oldest pigeons produce exceptional youngsters to breed from, some really exceptional ,With this in mind I obtained 2 wonderful 10 year olds whose breeding were second to none They had never seen a race basket in their life that was immaterial ,I floated the eggs from them over 2 years until I had 6 cocks and 6 hens ,I then paired them to which I considered to be my best bred cocks and hens which had been gifted from friends top racing pigeons ,Everything bred from these were raced one of which hit the crossbar this year, The dam of the winning cock will now be paired to the old cock and the young put to stock to cross back in to the family ,The winning cock will be paired to his grandmother , The above is just an input of my idea's everyone to there own ,Good Luck
