dunc50 Posted February 23, 2017 Report Posted February 23, 2017 Cumbria 1939 the breeding population of peregrine falcons was 41 pair this is counted by the conservationists as the true natural figure and the bench mark for any survey of numbers done in this area. Cumbria 1963 a breeding population of 6 pair Cumbria 1971 a breeding population of 21 pair Cumbria 1976 a breeding population of 43 pair (2 pair above the natural bench mark figure recognised by conservationists) Cumbria 1981 a breeding population of 59 pair (18 pair above the natural bench mark figure recognised by conservationists) Cumbria 1991 a breeding population of 95 pair (54 pair above the natural bench mark figure recognised by conservationists) Cumbria 1998 a breeding population of 100 pair (59 pair above the natural bench mark figure recognised by conservationists) In this period 1347 chicks where ringed in Cumbria 550 of them made it to breeding maturity !!!!!! The figure for 2014 is 75 pair this is attributed to the demise of pigeon fanciers within the area.they admit the significance of prey abundance coincides exactly with the reduction in racing pigeons within the area.an interesting fact as this proves the numbers of peregrines is dictated by its main food source.racing pigeon they also brought in a contingency plan.which was to site new artificial nests in every major city.they are moving these predators to areas where pigeon fanciers are still abundant.so the proof is there.its satisfying to know that the swing to south round flying smashed a big hole in the breeding cycle as well but the paramyxovirus issues of the early 80s played into there hands with north round flying same as the foot and mouth outbreak.if pigeon racing is to survive the powers that be need to recognise the significance of which route we fly.the issue with small Feds releasing birds from the same lib points needs to be addressed as well.the federations need to amalgamate and stop feeding these predators all through the day.a window of opportunity has arisen as a fancy we can smash a big hole in this conservation programme by implementing certain criteria.the welsh north road fanciers caught them on the hop when they changed route and it reduced the peregrine numbers in every area they flew through.someone should be employed by the fancy to sift through these figures and plot us a recognised safer route.then as the peregrines move in we change the route.going by previous route changes this can reduce the numbers by 40%.we must start helping ourselves.the figures don't lie.there is proof conservationists have plotted against the pigeon fraternity and used racing pigeons as an available food resource.his gives grounds for compensation if proved I now have the information that proves this if anybody from the regions of associations wants to get in touch I will pass on this information.or even the rapture alliancegood bit of home work,

Guest mambo Posted February 24, 2017 Report Posted February 24, 2017 Why wouldent our federation be given its chance of going it alone at a distance race £3 per doo x 400 birds £1200 12 baskets at £75 each we don't need any one or controlled by any one
