yeboah Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 I read of a man who stood to speakAt the funeral of a friendHe referred to the dates on her tombstone From the beginning to the end He noted that first came the date of birthAnd spoke of the following date with tearsBut he said what mattered most of allWas the Dash between those Years For that dash represents all the timeThat she spent alive on EarthAnd now only those who loved herKnow what that little line is worth For it matters not,how much we own,The cars..the house..the cashWhat matters is how we live and loveAnd how we spend our Dash So,think about this long and HardAre there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is leftThat can still be rearranged If we could just slow down enoughTo consider what's true and RealAnd always try to understandThe way other people feel And be less quick to AngerAnd show Appreciation moreAnd love the people in our livesLike we've never loved before If we treat each other with respectAnd more often wear a Smile,Remembering that this Special DashMight only last a While. So,when your Eulogy is being Read,With your life's actions to rehash ...Would you be proud of the things they sayAbout how you spent Your DASH ?
peter pandy Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 The Minister at my brother's Wife's Sheila's funeral gave the same sermon regarding lifes ""DASH"" which many in the congregation had given little thought to.The sculptor was instructed to make on her headstone an appropriate very long dash..
yeboah Posted October 13, 2016 Author Report Posted October 13, 2016 The Minister at my brother's Wife's Sheila's funeral gave the same sermon regarding lifes ""DASH"" which many in the congregation had given little thought to.The sculptor was instructed to make on her headstone an appropriate very long dash..What a wonderful touch PeterMy mother told me my grandfather who was a stonemason made his own headstone And when she took a cup of tea out to him one night he said that's it nearly finished Bella The only thing I'm unable to finalise is the date after the Dash It stands proud to this Day in JohnstoneBridge Cemetery
peter dempsey Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 sommething similar to above if with pleasure you are viewing any work a man is doing if you like him or you love him tell him now dont withold your admiration until, after his oration as he lays with rosy tulips oer his head for no matter how you shout it , he will no nothing about it as he cannot count the tear drops you have shed so if you thnk some praise is due him , nows the time to give it too him for he cannot read his Toombstone when hes Dead
Valiant Fifer Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 Yup both true. Honest and straight to the point. Like them very much.
