showman Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 what does everyone have in there medicine boxes? thanks Virkon S, Jeyes Fluid and a spare pkt. of fags !!
Delboy Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Get yourself testing kits from a reputable avian vet ( theirs none in Scotland ) and test your birds every few weeks and treat according to the vets instruction. Youll save money in the long run.
chris1984 Posted February 23, 2016 Author Report Posted February 23, 2016 Virkon S, Jeyes Fluid and a spare pkt. of fags !! good answer

frank-123 Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Don't bother with any the products advertised. Do as Delboy says forget the rest of the products and potions . What I would say is try different test kits so you are not always sending to the same place.
philg50 Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Aye i would say beyond what you have got dont get caught up with all the super cures advertised like most of us have done ,a lot will say i never did that !!! dont believe it, i have bought a lot of stuff that sits in the shed never used just because some one said it was great ,aye and so has most doo men mugs with their money ,keep it simple mate IMO.

Uphill Lofts Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 The only thing I keep handy in the medicine box is (OLD HANDS)White Sesqui tablets. any thing under the weather I use a couple these they will do the trick.(If NOT YOU HAVE A PROBLEM.)
Wiley Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Forget the cocci treatment, if you have a cocci problem something else health wise or your loft is wrong. If you have a dry loft the cocci count will always be low and not need to be treated. If it flares up its not the cocci you should be worrying about but the other underlying problem.

When testing their droppings cocci and canker levels are always elevated. Two things with pigeons that are an easy fix . So for me always have the basic stuff

Guest paulrstokes Posted February 25, 2016 Report Posted February 25, 2016 below is a picture of my medicine box Do yourself a favour and take Gulkies advice, I have not treated for cocci or canker in 10 years, just use one spot on the back of the nexk once per year for lice and worms You will keep money in your pocket too

I cant remember the last time I treated for cocci, it must be 20 years ago. The Cocci count lowers as soon as you eradicate any other underlying problem. If you canker your birds, the cocci count automatically lowers therefore most cocci products are a waste of money imo.
