peter pandy
Their was a formula for the amount of space a single pigeon requires and if memory serves me correctly it is 1 cubic yard per bird. Should that be the case a 6x4x6ft high should allow you 5 birds in comfort.
Roland
A 6 x 4 compartment - aeriated - would more than suffice. Keeps them tamer - if you are often in and move slow with a quiet voice, and easier to catch etc.
Roland
As for birds to space, Peter may recall one as such. Only one I ever saw was a government one (Canadian) and it was 1 square foot per pigeon. Which of course would still be the ruling. Don't know of any D.A.F.R.A. one though. Would wager be much the same though.

In fact I will have 40 or just over in such again this y/b season.
