What's your thoughts on birds with big wattles is it something to look for in a doo me myself I think the old boys look great but is it only the old strains that carry this look or does the modern distance doos that are not so bold looking perform just as good (they probably doo but I am just looking for everyone's opinion ) cheers

Not really Andy I was just wondering if fanciers thought the birds with the big wattles (Ceres) old strains were doing better than the more modern family's

I have a few in my loft that have very large wattles. One problem I see is that it affects their vision when feeding from the trough as they can't seem to see the food.

They are nice to see on older cock birds but they don't matter as far as racing ability is concerned. Hens with small wattles win more races than cocks.

Big wattles was popular in the old time of racing pigeon, they stuck out a mile from street birds, maybe it's come to the smaller ones through a lot of in breeding, thoughts,
