Stock Pairs

Im going to stop the cock that came well yesterday and stock him. He has proved he can make it into Oban 5 times with a few of them hard enough days. Each year I have done the same with my best birds.

I have 2 cocks and 2 hens now.

Question is, should I pair each of them to other doos giving me 4 pairs or pair them to each other giving me 2 pair?

Pair them to each other, all birds that have flown into Oban, there is no point in crossing them with birds that haven't. good luck.

Think you know your own answer Ally and are just looking for confirmation. You have been searching for pigeons from all the difficult to fly into areas to attempt to find pigeons that will fly into Oban. You now have four pigeons that have done it now, so obvious, pair them together in the hope that their offspring will also be able to fly into Oban.

As an interest, what are the lines of the four that have flown into Oban? Are they similar lines or will they be crossing different lines together?

definately pair to each other Ally, at least you know what all the parents are capable of flying into Oban :animatedpigeons:

If you use your other birds as feeders that is just as good as having 4 pairs of stock.

When they are in your loft, just like Georges Bussheart they are all Ally MacLeans.

It looks like Malky's pigeons flying into Arrocher have some of the difficulties and are coping. I have one from the hen you gave me, just made it back today, so they have guts and determination.

Pete Patrick, Kerr Stainthorpe and Frank Baillie, all top fanciers. Chris Maidment has some well bred pigeons as well, if that is the correct Maidment, mind it could be Harry.

Either way, all good lines. Some sort of blend from that mix should do the business. You have already proven it works with the son off Malky's hen, so best of luck with future breeding and floating.
