sj irving jnr Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 yes there still is a stray center at gretna pam power runs it
Taylorsloft Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 ive been down there 3 times been right inside helping to put birds in the baskets and the only thing the place is fit for is growing mushrooms .it was roasting inside if the rspca seen it they would close it down
Taylorsloft Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 if i remember i think the guy i was with phoned the shu and complained about the state of the place
blackswan Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Lets just be thankfull that the stray centre is there for us, i wouldnt, and like most of the fanciers like to keep forking out £30 to have a bird picked up every time it gets reported. The both strays i have had back this year, there has been nothing wrong with them, they just made the mistake like a lot of young birds doo. So people should not comment on nothing they no anything about. :X :X have seen stray centre and if nothing has changed it needs to sorted and our birds dont need to be kept in the dark. have you been to see it.
Taylorsloft Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 i was making a comment on something i no about :P :P have you seen it .you all might be seeing it soon if i can find the photos.
rembrant2coo Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 i was making a comment on something i no about :P :P have you seen it .you all might be seeing it soon if i can find the photos. oh boy ,do you really want to show them this stevie .

Taylorsloft Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 yes i do lets show them what they are paying for .then they will be asking for there money back to buy stuff to treat there pigeons
rembrant2coo Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Sorry about the spelling harry, went to hit the R twice and noticed only hit it once, i normally only have to give one hit. ;D ;D ;D ;D try a hammer next time ,i think i,ll be due an apology soon anyway .????? :'( :'(
The Grass Cutter Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 Why dont people take the trouble to check their facts before making critical remarks about the STRAY CENTRE . Davie Fleming and the Armadale members take great care of the birds. F. Jamieson gifted specially made aluminium crates to the SHU for the STRAY CENTRE, J HENDRIE then built racks to keep the crates off the floor .The drinkers are fitted all day , and the lights are on all day. What more do these CRITICS want? Why dont the CRITICS attend the S H U AGM and volunteer to take over and give Davie and the members of Armadale a well earned break away from the work and the worry looking after all our young birds?

weecunny Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 gee the man a break or do the job urself

weecunny Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 if its that bad then why waste time slaggin it report it now for the birds sake
Guest chrisss Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 if its that bad then why waste time slaggin it report it now for the birds sake i don't know how bad or good it is,but i would be interested in seeing it,because i would assume that any bird might end up there, and my club flies north road, could any one tell me if rpra birds go there [daft i know guys but i don't know how you fellas do it]
weecunny Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 only su rings go into the stray centre as far as a no chriss
Fair Play Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 It would be nice if the organisations were to put a few "kudos" into a fund to make the stray centres available to all after all stray pigeons especially young ones don't care who has or where they are registered, they are lost and wish to get home what has happened to "Pigeon Spirit." A few centres up and down the country would be worth their weight in gold and if provided for free at the moment what could be achieved with a few "quid" thrown in.
Pego Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Have had one stray back from stray centre this season and he was in good condition apart from injury which had prevented him from homing.
joe61 Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 fair play it aint gunna happen most fanciers want to sit on their *expletive removed* and wait for it to drop in their lap or better still let someone else do it they will discuss it for 2 or 3 weeks then move on to the next topic oh happy days
Guest Davy Fleming Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Hi Guys, Just taken some time to read through all your commenta regarding SHU STRAY CENTRE which has been based in Armadale for a few years now. Some of you are never ever happy are you, if we didn't organise a stray centre it would cost a lot of guys an awful lot of money and at approx £30 a time and 2 or 3 birds per week, I just wonder how long one may be able to sustain that type of pressure from the pocket. Granted ventilation could be better, but for the amount of birds that sit all week ( only a few ) there is more than ample ventilation within the clubhouse. These birds are fed morning and night with fresh water at same time every single day in good clean baskets . There is also more than ample lighting on 24/7 to allow the birds to obtain a drink whenever they please . As for the condition of the birds that leave us they are normally in very good condition when they leave, except for the ones that come and go normally within 24 hours and are brought in in a very poor condition anyway so it doesn't leave me a great deal of time to do anything with them. As for wing stamps, I am very fortunate I get a good hand from ALL THE GUYS that come up on a friday night and also the lads that come in over the weekend with there transporter to process the birds into there respective baskets and whilst we try our best to make sure everything is ok it is unfortunate mistakes do get get made . It would be nice if people came along and supported the work that we do and not criticise some thing they have never seen and don't know anything about. As for the stray centre in Gretna Green , this is now finished . Hope this answers your thoughts . If you have a problem or wish to talk to me my number is 07961441470 Davy Fleming SHU STRAY OFFICER PS Thanks very much to the guys who made some positive remarks and support to me
