Merlin, the P. R. factor, likes the other few mention - of which there is unfortunately vastly many - is what has been advocated for yonks. Indeed it is the very much fear of the members out cry that has prevented it. Like so much more.

The main point here is surely 'Put up or Shut up'. If every one feels as they actually say, and acted as such, of course the MEETINGS of every level would be swamped. Those elected to place our votes would for instance HAVE to vote as the club says / Fed etc. said and democratically voted. But they don't, as most must realise. Would if meeting were attended.

Liken it to an Animal Right activist that was collecting money for the fight against Labourites using animals. -Whether one agrees or not in this instance is irrelevant - I went over and said that I totally agreed, that WE should make a stand! That to show how strongly we felt on this matter and to make a real stand. He agreed of course. I then went on and stated that as such, to prove a point and to really get it across, acts of proper significance should be the order of the day, ones that the media covered with praise for our efforts, instead of attacking homes and buildings etc. He warmed, but was starting to feel uneasy by the look of his posture and agitated movements. Like, I said, our refuse to use ANY product that had been used upon animals for the so - called benefit of mankind. That regardless of pain, detrimental aspects of our senses we should refuse them. Indeed when in hospital, what better chance to shun any and all such medicine that were formulated with the help of experiments upon animals.

He said that was ridiculous idea, that we'd suffer great pains and what not, and shortly packed up his stool and left.

Similar here I feel all too many times, the out cry, and so heartened are we by them…

The very things that are proposed, the very way forward is no more than what is already in place, and being done. The only reason that certain ones seem to get away with it is no more that the members not attending and having their say. Staying also with the very way of which they intended to vote when getting there.

IF we attended, and VOTED things would have never been allowed to get this way in the first place. Further every decade is to blame, and mark my words, this decade, and the next will go the very same way UNTILL we all attend. That is the simple truth and reality I’m afraid.

I personaly believe, that that the mutinous suggestings put forward, will not help Karen in anyway whatsoever, or the rank and file of pigeon fliers in general. Since Karens arrival at the Reddings, I have aways enjoyed her writings, and hard imput. that she offers the Assocciation. In fact her cotributions are the first I read, along with that other brilliant Corespondent, namely, John Harwood.Brilliant angler as well as an ace with his birds. I was reading about him when the famous TEESIDER was a scribe. But for Karen. to complain about. now what she calls faults, at the Reddings, does leave me in disbelief. Perhaps it was the changeover, she doesn't agree with, because to lose a good boss, is always hard to swallow. But give the new broom a chance Karen! It's hard I know. Anyhow I onlhope that this unfotunate upset, will right itself quickly, and will end in an amicable way for all concerned.  Remember, Karen, your writings and workload are appeciated by all. And although you may rule the roost in the house by the Reddings, You wil never rule the big house next door, because this assocciation has stood the test of time, and may it always be that way. Good Luck, Vic.

Dont see your name on the petiton though Vic!

Surely my letter, sez it all? LOL

Says a lot yes but no harm if you appreciate her work and writings adding your name to the bit that counts eh! LOL

Yes, but personally!  The less said the better, after her comments and writings, on more  serious things. PLEASE! ONE OF YOU GUYS DO ME A FAVOUR, WITHOUT SNIPING. PUT HER CASE IN A NUTSHELL PLEASE!  I THINK THAT SHE HAS HAD A GOOD RIDE, SINCE THE ASSOCCIATION EMPLOYED HER. SHE IS ABOVE AVERAGE, AT THE REDDINGS, AND APPRECIATED BY THE MAJORITY. LET'S KEEP IT ALL IN MODERATION, PLEASE. vic.  GOD SAVE THE KING.

which King would that be Vic ? as far as i knew we had a Queen and i respect what the French did to there monarchy :)

There are two seperate issues on this one thread.  I think it important we differentiate.

1. The plight of Karen James.

It is a matter for her, and her alone.  She has not requested and may not want any input from RPRA members.  If she has a grievance, it should, in the first place be taken up with her Line Manager.

2. The disatisfaction of many members with the way the RPRA is run.

This is a long standing grievance, which constantly comes to the surface, and it is good and healthy to have a debate on the alternatives.  People such as Council members/GM put themselves in positions of responsibility, representing members, and as long as comments are not personal, and are constructive, then they have no reason to complain.

Realism please, just who are they, and how does one replace them? By exactly the same method as is already in place.

Forget all the ardour and response here... Be real and look back at just that last short time.

Bewted got a great plan for strays... everyone rooting... died a death through Apathy when names were asked to be put forward. Avian Flu.... What an outcry! What a mess, and apathy set in..... talk nowt done... still ent. Hawks / Raptures, Corridor flying, Strays etc. etc. forget it, APATHY will have set in and few names will be put forward.

RPRA regards the Flu did more than all the rants and raves and bickering than all those members put together ... indeed what in reality did, or has the members ever done!

YES great fundraisers for noble and charity. Thankless via the public ... becuase they never know, hear about it! Every year we give... but we can't / couldn't even manage a good pee up in the pub if the beer was free... No one would serve, and soon be forgotten.

RPRA wanted one little £'ddy A YEAR to promote a PR. Firm Members outrage stops them. What and how for instance does one really expect to fight organised concerns like the RSPB etc with the rolling well organised machinery of mass publicity! Moan in the local I guess. They laugh at us and every other concern that is affected by Raptures  / falcons etc.

Not a shred of help via the members, just moans that the Government, the RPRA etc. etc. should do this and that... and then take the rug away because you can't get a brainy businessman to give up his livelihood to work full time and above for NOTHING as he keeps pigeons.

PR Firms mean THINK TANKS, MEANS how Joe public see it. Has means to the 'People' that matter, leeway in the corridors of power.... But a £! coin! Forget it, lets moan instead and sooner - if any left - that Knight in white armour will be here.

Let me say this, this time tomorrow, next week, next year decade etc. everything will be the same ... if there is such a thing as pigeon racing as we know it today.

Should have gone down the road of 'One loft races for Corporate concerns, ten years ago. They would have pave the way for club / Fed / Alma / Combine and National races every WEEK for a lot less money... But that don't suit too many... Mostly of course the members that rather moan.

So tel just whose names are we looking for? Further just who's names are putting themselves forward. Be great to stat a thread called 'Put my name up'!

roland you are correct on certain things and yes it will fade into the woodwork nextweek, but the bigger point made is that until we start to attend those meetings and vote to change things the sport wont move forwards...and by the way my own name would be up there as well as it was with the  bewted post....

TIME TO EJECT, yes lads its time to evacuate the sinking ship (the rpra) its been listing from side to side since the major left, and the replacement captain did not do enough for her to stop taking in water.Okay what are the alternatives then? the alternative and indeed will save us all money is for clubs, federations. amalgamations, combines affiliate to The North West Homing Union, they will accept any club / member within the British Isles not a problem. Whats it cost then? NWHU Fees @ £2.50 per member Rings @ 15p each ( yes 15p each) and they are larger in diameter than your rpra rings. Incidentally the rings are made on the same machines that the rpra rings are manufactured but the NWHU dont get as much discount as the RPRA so can you tell me why the rpra charges the prices they do?

All enquiries to the secretary T.Dawber ( 01257 421271 ) the motto of the NWHU is "For the Fancier- By The Fancier" yes we have not had that since the good old RNHU days when the members decided how THEIR UNION was run. I have give you all something to think about, have'nt I.?

Posted

you certainly have and i suppose this ships up and running , so ineffect the NWHU could send letters to each club ;) and maybe have a UK RING INSTEAD OF GB ? ;)

So would mine! Though I’d be outvoted lol for any position voted on lol

But I believe that rather start again etc. sure it is better to utilise the 'Ship' we have now!

Yes great to throw ideas around here, constructive and no so much will, I'm sure, put a lot of good ideas to the fore front of what is, Needed, wanted and above all a standard that is acceptable to the members in general.

Sadly I fear though, that after all the good effort, ideas, discussions would all be useless until members start attending meetings and putting them forward.

Moaning, whinging solitary voice in the wilderness are useless, and soon become a pain and a No No situation straight off after a short spell.

So, come on lads, voice on, and let's hear it said at meeting too.

No! They won't do just as they like - as they always do - NOT if you are there to promote and vote!

Might take a few sittings, but first off the club will straight away be a lot healthier, a good club spirit abounding again, and that means success! Not just for the club, and the better standard of racing (for that will certainly happen) but for you!

Since the NWHU jumped into their lifeboats, from an unsinkable ship, they have remained what they are. i.e. Lossed at sea, with a couple of rag tag clubs scattered here and there in the NW area. Please don't listen to their May Day pleas. PLEASE! LOL, Vic.

Is it empty in here and weve got ourselves an echo oo oo oo, or is it that our vic likes to hear himself speak. well they must be on their phones placing ring orders with NWHU, oh! did I forget to mention you get your rings on the 2nd january. as they say in the telly advert

"pikup the bleeding phone"

Posted

Thats, another plus factor when you purchase your rings with the NWHU you recieve FREE transfers with them. I know the boat I'd rather be aboard when its being tossed about in rough seas its the NWHU ARK ROYAL and not a deflated patched up rpra dinghy.

Anyone for life jackets lads?

All RPRA registered clubs should have a surcharge on these, (two for the price of one rings). before any more damage is done, to the Assocciation we pay, to keep our game together.

Tommy Hibbs who I'm sure you know Vic once told me that the "old school" will either have to change or they will go under. Do you have a modern out look on things pigeon racing wise or are you "Old School"?

With a recession starting to take a grip, people having their homes repocessed at a staggering 75 per day, job losses into the thousands why are the old gaurd supporters of the rpra trying to convince us that by paying more we get less. I think fanciers will make up their own minds on this one.Remember when the rpra boat lists for her final time and cannot upright herself, the captain is the last to leave the ship. But be careful not to get sucked under and taken down with her.

Who is going to foot the bill for the refit? not out the members pockets again! What happened to our investment into the BHW when we purchased it is was a secure investment to make the future of the RNHU as it was at that time very secure for ots forseeable future.

What happened to the purchase and letting out of Selby House yes, that was another fine investment for a secure future of our sport.

Why do we not get a individual balance sheets for the BHW / RPRA accounts for they areregistered as two seperate businesses, ask the inland revenue? All these so called investments in the short term made us money, but where has this generated wealth gone.

It won't be too long before another BHW show is upon us, all the profits will be given away again for a nice photo shoot of some old guys in suits that once kept pigeons. That generated show profit needs to be pumped back into refitting a badly mis managed ship.

But its no use going on about it between ourselves guys, because the membership are no longer listened too and more hurtful than this is WE NO LONGER MATTER.I'm sorry but this rpra monster has bitten once too often its time to put her to sleep......
