Guest Jamsie Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 Started the season with 41 racers including late bred birds. I have 10 left, 5 of which were stopped early on. So 5 birds left that have raced most of the program. 3 of these are going to Clermont so it could get worse yet. Ps. Homer49, the fancier who lost 80+ pigeons had more problems than bad racing. IMO!
JohnQuinn Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 Started with 43 and have 12 left though i didnae send tae Uper Hayford or Bedhampton, or no doubt the 13 woulda been more like 3!!
Guest stb- Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 ok looking at this it looks very much like the further south and the further east the returns are much better the further north and the further west the fanciers are its almost tottal anialation. seems like north west of the pennines etc the worse it gets . andyyy Icon Veteran of the Loft!PipPipPipPipPipPipAdd as Friend PM this memberGroup:MembersPosts:702Joined:12-September 09LocationSheffieldClub:Gleadless HSPosted Yesterday, 22:38 PMstarted racing with 30 cocks, still have 25 left and they have tried hard for me this season winning 7 1st prizes out of the 10 races we've had. here is hoping that the yb seasin will be good with few loses!! Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 Had a count tonight, started with 77, after competing in 17 old bird races i now have 38 remaining with four of these earmarked for Clermont.
Michael J Burden Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 I started with about 60 which many were late breds and yearlings. Down to 11 cocks all yearlings except one two year old late bred. Same with the hens except all yearlings and late breds. Still got one more race to go next week 500 miles in the Fed. 9 or 10 of the cocks going most likely. So will loose even more after next week end. Lost my good hen Darcey 2nd sec 10 plus hours on wing yb NFC then 3rd sec NFC. Was coming well but lost her at Cholet. Lost all my two year olds who have scored also. A funny year for pigeon racing altogether. Mjb
bigjamie Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 dont know the answer but the loses this year down the west have been very bad for the lanarkshire fed yet last year the ybs had great racing out of the west the way things are going the sport will be done people cant keep up with these loses it takes folk a couple of years to try and build a team for national racing the way its going we wont need transporters a hired transit van from arnold clarks will do the job
geordie1234 Posted July 11, 2014 Author Report Posted July 11, 2014 Yet you get guys who say they have full returns but the week after they are down with half the doos
alex young Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 Looking at this thread and the velo's from some of your races, you need very game birds to fly into Scotland it must be soul destroying with the losses you're having and even more so when a old favourite doesn't return.atb lads.

REDCHEQHEN Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 Started racing 32 at the start of the season - have got 26 left Eastbourne 1 - Lost 2 Lillers 1 - Lost 1 Reims 1 - Lost 3 (from 7 sent 432 miles)Didn't send to Eastbourne 2 Didn't send to Reims 2 This weekend is Eastbourne 3 - sent 25 (One returnee from Reims 1 has never recovered properly, so stays at home) Note all the losses have been combine races - where all are up together Next week is the last old bird race (Ypres)
