Kyleakin Lofts Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 no matter what the weather is like, that is just typical of some of today,s pigeon men just cant be ar..d Pigeon reported 18th May, not yet picked up 15th June, I think this guy has been ar..d. I think he has been ar..d around by the owner. Pity the pigeon has to suffer the consequence, but it is the owner who should be castigated not this fella.

Novice Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 I delivered 2 strays to their home lofts last Monday. Both birds were back on the transporter for a 125 mile race on Friday. Neither arrived home on Saturday. Many fanciers either don't care or have no idea how to race pigeons.
fat1e Posted June 16, 2014 Author Report Posted June 16, 2014 no matter what the weather is like, that is just typical of some of today,s pigeon men just cant be ar..dchad the bird is from Falkirk and why should I keep a bird for a month after the owner said he would send for it then never made contact?? yes I carn't be arsed not after a month I have to use my time finding it a lift home because the owner couldn't be bothered don't worry andy I will still report all strays but will go down the shu route and report the owners if I didn't get it a lift home today I would have went down that route but some members think I should just keep birds forever or until the owner can be arsed I informed the shu to get the blokes details in the first place

Kyleakin Lofts Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 fatl e, i thought when reported that you had a certain time to arrange a pick up and if not picked up you could not race, have things changed ? The last SHU council meeting I attended a fancier was suspended for not collecting a stray, but it was commented that this was the first time it had been done for some time.Everybody must be collecting their strays, the finders are not pressing the matter or the SHU are not acting on it, I presume.

gulkie Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 fatl e, i thought when reported that you had a certain time to arrange a pick up and if not picked up you could not race, have things changed ?Chad I don't think it extends to a month ,fatl e you are doing a good job it's a shame the small minority has To spoil it for everyone else .
Novice Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 surely not robert One of them is in my loft now with a fresh race rubber on and I know for a fact that the other did not arrive home and I assume it will be in the loft on the line of flight that it has called into twice this season already. However the fanciers will quote these missing birds as lost due to a bad race and probably blame the race controller.I fully expect to be asked to return bird 2 to it's owner when I attend marking on Thursday night.
fat1e Posted June 16, 2014 Author Report Posted June 16, 2014 fatl e, i thought when reported that you had a certain time to arrange a pick up and if not picked up you could not race, have things changed ? when I first reported the bird a friend offerd to take it up the road to haggerston(approx. 50 mile north of us) but the bird beat him back so I informed the owner again his reply was I thought it was getting dropped off at haggerston I said it had beat him back that's when he said he would arrange to have it collected I never heard a word from him till I rang him on sunday he then said he couldn't find a courier I was fuming I was going to report him and make him collect it buy god knows how long it would have been and I think the bird had been locked up for long enough that's when I arranged to have it took to Kilmarnock with my son in law who is working there for a couple of days did you want him to keep it in a box if the weather was a bit iffy in the back of a van? at least I have made an effortthe owners details from shu A Ritchie Kerwell Stanrigg Rd Wallacestone Falkirk
Guest chad3646 Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 when you report a pigeon to the shu how long has the owner got to collect it before he is suspended ?
