Can someone explain why pigeons that are going with the nat that are ETS have to wear a rubber?

Ye always thought it a a bit of a waste of time. Something with duplication i think

i thought it was another way to id your bird if they come to check it plus you can get a clock set also as a safe guard might be wrong but cant think of any other reason

But if your not setting a non ets clock you shouldn't need it??? Just thought it was a waste of time and with the ridiculous q's at marking it could help reduce time also less workers needed

i agree george thats why i think they may still be using the rubber to dbl check id if your in first three m8 also you can still run to someone that has a clock i dont have a problem with it other than time factor at marking

Geordie im sure if you had the first doo in the national and your ets broke doon you would be glad tae take the rubber ring of and run to someone elses t3 clock to time your doo in !!!! no so much a waste of time as your all saying , you have the chance to put in a duplicate in your clock or someone elses m8 what happens if your ets went on the bung or didiny register , imagine loosing a 1st open national for being a FANNY lol

i always believed it was to prove that the pigeon had been through the marking station? and also as stated that its a fail safe should the ets go down.

I can understand the fail safe but your print out would prove it's been put through the station

Correct, also i don't trust ets any more than i trust a 50 year old toulet clock, have always been amazed at the amount of fanciers that don't get a second clock set, you never know the day.

There was a case last year at Newhouse the guy brought his ets clock to get his print out and came up it was a trainer but he was lucky enough he had a manual clock set so beware :animatedpigeons:
