C WRIGHT Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 Just back from 1 week break good friend of mine was looking after my pigeons thanks stevie anyway returned to all birds looking great and 1 extra cock the black cock was lost last year as a youngster he raced the 1st 2 races and was was there just out of the winners sent to sedgefield and never seen him again almost 9 months ago stevie tells me he appeared start of week and checked number knowing it was my ring so put him in with my cocks my concerns are he is in good condition clean feet nice white whittle clean ring ets in order and my contact stick on number imaculate surely if he had been raking the fields and living rough for this time it would be visible where has he been has he been prisoner somewhere and maybe someone tried breaking him now while breeding and hes made for home who knows
Tony C Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 Would think the bleaching of flights would've been more than noticeable if he'd been roughing it so would say some ****** has had him in and tried to break him. He's love for home has won the day and hope he does you more than a good turn.
paddymac Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 Possibly being flying out with whoever had him and now that training has started he found his old line of flight to his proper home. A lot of birds missing from the previous season turn up now at this time of year :emoticon-0138-thinking:
philg50 Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 There was nothing better than a bird turning up after a long time ,coming in the loft flying to its old box and looking at home there, always gave me a good feelin, loyalty and effort both ways rewarded.!!!
gulkie Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 I find that a bird returning after a long period show,s it has a weakness and regardless of its condition it is not to be trusted ,when it does this once it will do it again ,the least bit of stress it will go down ,in my option it is to expensive to keep this type of bird it will disappoint you again ,I know that there is the exception but % wise they will go down at the first hurdle .
Dmurray Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 A had a bird do the same a couple of years ago m8 , a lost him at the third young race and he appeared nearly a year later let him rest up for a few weeks then Sent him to a come bck race from otterburn which was his only race as a yearling a timed him in then this year a scored out of ypres with him , IMO is that bird won't be as easy lost this year, if he can come home after being out 9 months he can come home from anywhere , good luck with him this year m8
greenlands Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 It's good to see a young pigeon that has made a mistake, probably kept in somewhere finally realise that his home is elsewhere, given more incentive as a yearling to come home he might turn out to be something special.I'd rather have it come home like it did than in a box.
jim Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 had blue pied cock return over 12 months lost 1st yb race kept him started racing him as 2year old won 1st 3 races in club and won fed as 2 year old still scoring today good luck

frankdooman Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 The whole thing depends on whether that bird got the chance to home after making a mistake and yes I've had donkey,s return just to come home from races when and if they wanted but some of the best birds I've had at the distance have made mistakes and came home up to 6/10 weeks late so hard to judge your call but it won't do any harm to try it
