Walter swanston Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 I have the same problem, birds have laid not too bad but some refuse to sit their eggs,I have tried shutting them in the box but they only stand about looking miserable and totally ignore the eggs in the bowl, this has gone on for a week now?..

Walter swanston Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Yeah, well I am sick of the b******** and I will probably buy in young birds this year.
OLDYELLOW Posted March 1, 2014 Author Report Posted March 1, 2014 Well managed to swerve the bops only thing I've seen was a male spar late night , but dam bloody kitten dabbed one of my birds twice no damage to bird but one nighting out tonight , a mealy cock , he's only over road wont harm him . I thought this was quiet good for first time out since settling them last year They flew quiet well Hope tomorrow goes better
OLDYELLOW Posted May 18, 2014 Author Report Posted May 18, 2014 Aint updated for a while , so here goes think lost one cock around loft to bop bad weather high winds great start to the season not . Had real bad training then they started beating me home then sent them with training trailer bang ended up with loads missing many visiting old house still . Many came back with holes from aerials , one had a hole in bottom of crop just as was about to go up north for weekend . Couldn't stitch it or glue it so was stumped , observed thought for a while , so decided that as one piece of wheat passed through it the best plug / stopper would be a tic bean so locked him in his box put a turned over pickstone as a perch in middle a full pot of tic beans in corner then a trough of water at front of his box after weekend let him back out healed , he has been trained again since was coming ok then boped this time just missing a few feathers which will grow back no other damage , but out of commision for now . So anyway birds recovered trained again another two Hulls last Tuesday and Thursday . Then Saturday got up early morning basketed birds up and was away for 7 am heading towards first race point with the 24 hawk dodgers as I've called them . The photos are of the site I liberated at at Newark Devon and Sconce Park and the NEHU wagon as passed going home
OLDYELLOW Posted May 18, 2014 Author Report Posted May 18, 2014 22 of the 24 hawk dodgers all home present and correct , I imagine with the amount of pigeons in the area the other 2 should work there way back they may of got into a batch , the basket will decide which one's I'll keep Next race is At the channel which be a bit far after 86 mile toss , but there's another 86 mile race from Newark next weekend which will be my birds first race they will be trained from Hull Tuesdays and Thursdays weather permitting Then another inland race then Clermont , it's a bit of a sh1t or bust plan but I will be starting off with a new team of yearlings next year . Broken birds are more work than I anticipated but will get me a few races this year with the old birds . Sundays always young bird day , I only let them out for a few hours at night so gives them more time to wander out of loft and batch up . Hope you enjoyed reading this , and hope our season is good now that we have hit a bit of proper weather , Regards Mark

OLDYELLOW Posted May 18, 2014 Author Report Posted May 18, 2014 Cheers Andy I plan to enjoy my season this year , might hit a few surprises on the way , I'm looking forward to future channel races the most with the up and coming team ( me ybs ) , most from my recent stuff and added Grandchildren of Champion Clapper of Treble D via a direct son , and great great grand children of Mini Me and red Emperor of Armstrong of Wheatley's.
kirky Posted May 18, 2014 Report Posted May 18, 2014 broken birds never seem to race the same again mark going by the times ive moved, you get the odd good one and you have a good chance when thay get to the distance as times are more spread out to come from old loft if thay go there first, all the best with your ybs mine are all over the place a the moment but getting there,
OLDYELLOW Posted May 18, 2014 Author Report Posted May 18, 2014 broken birds never seem to race the same again mark going by the times i've moved, you get the odd good one and you have a good chance when they get to the distance as times are more spread out to come from old loft if they go there first, all the best with your ybs mine are all over the place a the moment but getting there,I could of taken the easy option and got shut but have learnt from doing it , so wasn't a complete waste of time I aim to have a bit of fun with these for rest of old bird racing it could be all over at first channel race , but I imagine I'd still get a few back even from there lol Guess the question should be Would I break birds again to race guess the answer be no lol but even that could change as the season unravels
