Mealy Cock Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Hi All As usual I spend time looking on the net at birds for sale just out of interest. What I have come across was there is a lot of pigeons over the last few months bred off "Red Barcelona"children and grand children, and I wondered why so many off a cracking racing pigeon up for sale. Any idea's or comments.
bigjamie Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 the people selling them must have enough bred from them for thereselfs
philg50 Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Well if your anything like me you dont! believe all you read ,imagine having a pigeon in your loft with tremendous racing ability or breeding ability ,you could sell there ofspring a hundred times over and the potential buyer only has its place of orign as a proven truth not what its bred off.
OLDYELLOW Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 There were a load of them for sale to be honest , I did go to one sale at Brid and bird/s I wanted were towards the end me and kirky were ready fer home , so came away empty handed .

just ask me Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 they never lived up to the hype jmo lots of had and got rid if im right he owned by bifs fredi versanderson (spelling) which can throw out large amounts of sons daughters grandchildren etc due to there artificial breeding program was typing mine same time as black wf lol
peter pandy Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 In an earlier post I mentioned the fact Brian Long the owner of Red Barcelona had a breeding system and artificial insemination was the preferred line of obtaining as many as possible. He informed me that the previous year he had taken 100 young from Red Barcelona. That is the answer as to why there are so many with his blood lines and I would estimate their would be at least 200 offspring before Brian passed away.
philg50 Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Well I have been away for the birds for a while but that has given me some new info I never realised artficial insimination was being used ,but why not its done with other animals and the like.Never thought.
