Followed the 8th Training flight whilst at Blackpool, and to say my ar*e was twitching was an understatement! :emoticon-0136-giggle:

Very good training flight once again, but they were hit by falcons again, with a lot of late returns and 6 pigeons returning today...

My team of 15 were well burst up and wasn't looking good for a spell, but managed 11 home on the day of lib, 2 next day, and one last nite at 6.42pm which was DIAZEPAN 1 (phew... thank god!) so only one lost!

All the other Scots made it being entered by JOCK ROSS 7/7, Team DOOLANDERS 2/2, Team SEASHORE 1/1 :emoticon-0137-clapping:

well done lads, lets keep the flag flying :scotland: met up with John Bosworth and Jim Smith with there good ladies Arlene and Mary, in the Winter Gardens and we had a good blether about various pigeon topics including the DERBY ARONA OLR :emoticon-0157-sun: look forward to the Final lads, and hopefully all going well will be there this year, fingers crossed for some Scottish doos at the main event...

I know ur ase was twitching it was stinking all weekend :egyptian: :egyptian: :egyptian:

good luck for tomorrow, lets hope no falcons and we get a nice straight forward fly for the pigeons.

another 'squeaky bum' training flight today, still 300 pigeons adrift this evening... they have worked well all day so I'm sure we will see plenty over next two days... tough training but only the warriors survive what is ranked as the most extreme one loft race in the world!

Scottish pigeons I would say faired very well, 12 from my team of 14 worked in with the last one being at 6.30pm this evening!

Jock Ross 3/7

Team Doolanders 2/2

Team Seashore 1/1

:scotland: :scotland: :scotland:

... so well done lads on another great effort, lets hope a great Final is slowly warmng up!! :emoticon-0167-beer::emoticon-0123-party:

37 miles and 25% of entry away, expletive remove. Normal for this event. :emoticon-0179-headbang:

it would appear all OLR races get hammered at some stage, it the name of the game... look what happened at the SCMDPR on Saturday, they were 3000 down on the day!!!

Good luck with the birds you have left in the race. But that Tenerife one loft race is a shocker every year without fail.

too far and too hot for youngsters imo mate... no matter what OLR you send every country has different obstacles, different terrain, different climates etc... but end result always appear the same, very little make it or return come the final stages... Scotland no different ;)

Ye canny sell this one to me Willie, its diabolical imo.The object to any O.L.R is to get your pigeon to the MAIN EVENT and this o.l.r has the poorest history for doing that. Its only 37 miles and we are all hoping ye get yer doos back, says it all m8.

not disputing what your saying mate, we all face challenges in all aspects of life... getting a pigeon to the Final of this OLR is a challenge I thrive on and obviously the many fanciers who enter every year, if it doesn't suit you or your pigeons then you obviously don't enter and take your chances else where... but I can guarantee you that most OLR throughout the world pose major disappointments along the way, the SCMDPR was a prime example at the weekend, and no disrespect to the Scottish OLR last year but it did end with a very poor birdage at the final also, no different from the Derby Arona... ;):)

we can dribble on for ever looking at the many 'pro's n cons' of OLR, at the end of the day I enjoy it and from the interest this tread creates every year many of the fanciers following this thread enjoy it also passing many a boring hour during the closed season, so lets keep it that way and BEST OF LUCK to all the remaining entrants :D

Keep in there, have been sending birds to rpra one loft race for the past 8 years, and had at least 1 in the final , both young birds and yearling . Great thrill ,

All the best,
