Guest CraigForsyth Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Has anyone ever came across that a ring has been 2 small for one of your birds and there legs are all seollen up? If so any help would be appreciated as I am having the problem with one of young birds Thanks craig
andy Burgess Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 I will be honest Craig and say no , the only time I have struggled was with a "gift" youngster which had slipped its ring in the nest , yet with the aid of both fanciers and some (preparation H) a large, bold youngster was rung that day
aye ready Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 maybe something caught in behind the ring, soak the ring leg in some warm water then get a thin piece of wire and feed it thru the ring top to bottom and work the ring round the wire which will act to scrape anything thats stuck on the inside of the ring
Guest CraigForsyth Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Thanks for the replies and aye red I know there is nothing under the ring as I had a plastic ring on it's other leg and it was all swollen aswell so I removed the plastic ring. There for the propper metal ring I can hardly even twist it round on the leg? Thanks craig

Guest CraigForsyth Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Okay thanks andy and will do Craig

Guest CraigForsyth Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 I'm not sure off hand and some of my hens are sitting out tonight because they wouldn't come in and she is one of then Craig
Guest CraigForsyth Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Phil the ring number is 8807 Craig
philg50 Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 This doo was bred off a Hofken cock x Andre Dieric hen {Louella} The cock is a real big strong bird ,but never any problem with rings try washing birds legs with water and a little disinffectant Its possible the bird struck legs when out flying and the problem could be swelling but thats all i can think .ALso cut back on feed as you should be in control of when they are out and more importantly when you want them in ,all the best Craig.
