greenlands Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 Reply to my email. Hi Lindsay First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to reply. This has been a very frustrating experience - and very time consuming. The full number is NEHU 2013; DAR xxxx. However, after posting messages on various pigeon sites yesterday, I tried ( yet again) to ring the Darlington secretary and spoke to his wife who took details and said her husband would likely look up the owner and give them my phone number.Last night, I had a phone call whilst out - no message left so I rang the person back on the mobile. He answered but didn't speak even when I kept saying 'hello'. I cut the call and sent a text. No reply. I rang the same mobile this morning, early, and spoke to a man who is the owner and told him the details. He wanted to know if I knew someone local that I could take it to. I'm afraid I was very angry. Pigeon racing is not my hobby but his, and I've cared for this poor creature since Friday and spent quite some time on the internet and phone trying to locate some responsibility for this bird and am now expected to deliver this bird somewhere else. (I take it that because it can't walk - think its leg may be broken, but is otherwise eating etc and bright, it isn't of use to its owner anymore ? And yet the public are encouraged to take the time to care for and report these birds). The man arranged to ring me at lunchtime to sort out something for the bird and as I'm typing this email to you, he rang and has actually arranged to collect the bird tomorrow. I guess it'll be 'dispatched' at some point. But to get back to this reply, I'm really very grateful to you for your response. And I'll never pick up an injured racing pigeon again. Kind regardsJo. My reply to Jo. Hi Jo,First all I must say I am sorry the you have had this sort of trouble trying to do someone a good turn. Please do not tar every pigeon fancier with the same brush, there's always a rotten apple in every barrel and it looks as though you might have found one.Like all walks of life some people are grateful and some don't give a toss, once again sorry for the bad experience,I have tried to help.Pleased you finally got it sorted.Lindsay C. Looks like it's sorted one way or the other. :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

blucock Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 It's quite simple really - the woman should wrote to the NEHU with the fancier's name and details of the bird. No wonder the public perception is that of the idiots on the PETA videos

blucock Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 Am not saying she id or didn't - she did the right thing all the way through - what I did say was yet another fancier making us look like a bunch of mugs and nothing done. The authorities should seek this fancier and "have a word"
