I would be very tempted to treat for canker regardless .always hard to try and help without seeing & handling the bird .
tumblerflyer Posted August 6, 2013 Author Report Posted August 6, 2013 Hi thanks for reply ...yes i think maybe i should treat for canker ..but it sure does look like maze ..bird can drink but seed it just dont swallow...

Kyleakin Lofts Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 Had this earlier this year. Treated for canker, but the bird didn't recover. I too, thought something had lodged in its throat.
tumblerflyer Posted August 7, 2013 Author Report Posted August 7, 2013 Hi going to go for the canker treatment hopefully it will do the trick...will give all drinkers a good clean and sterilise them will let you know how the bird is...

Guest IB Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 Sorry, I'm a bit mixed up with what you mean, and wondered if you tell me a bit more about the lump in the birds throat? You said you can't see anything - is that when you look down the inside of bird's throat through the open beak? So is this a lump you can feel under the birds feathers & skin further down the birds neck, but which you cannot see? Is the bird able to eat OK or does this lump affect that?
tumblerflyer Posted August 7, 2013 Author Report Posted August 7, 2013 Hi looking into birds throat it looks clear no signs of any thing...when feeling under the beak can feel a lump in top part of throat,,,feels like corn stuck....i parted the feathers and it looks like a lump of maze,,,as you can just see it through skin...the bird dont seem to be able to eat...but can still drink ..it did try to eat but shakes it head and throws corn out...well ive go the canker treatment going at the moment...hopeing it is that...
Tony C Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 If it starts to lose to much weight soak some pellets in warm water and syringe the mush down its throat.
