Don't know why there is so many fanciers obsessed with Ypres when it's not even 500 mile to them and they want long distance racing

I think because they cross the water it makes it more of a challenge, even though as you say its not 500mls to most across the central belt. In saying that i've always catergorised birds as sprint 0-200mls Middle 200-400 mls and long distance 400=600, over 600 is into extreme distance. Jmo.

The biggest problem is this there's too much clashing over the water and not enough communication with our continental friends , so basically a lack of organisations been organised and aware of what's happening when liberating :) Too many bodies in UK time we all got together and got better organised imo .

This is the 1st time I have heard anybody mention clashing over the water. Very interesting point! Is there evidence to suggest it with birds being reported in those countries?

It is also very heartening to see newer members to the sport (of which I am) and more experienced members having a good discussion about the way forward. My own stance is that things have to change big time as I know for sure that I have club members who can challenge for good prizes but choose not to, its time too move forward, the sport has always been a sport that ages with its members and that needs to stop. There is nothing more interesting to me than listening to older pigeon men talk about their hobby and seeing two of them today for the 1st time in a long time reminded me of that. Nice to see you guys today (got 21 from 24 training today and they are ready to race now, hope you done okay as there was a lot of birds in the sky today)

Away from race programmes, transporters, birdages etc for a minute- One of the things for me that would get a bit of the ‘prestige’ back into long distance racing in this country would be the reintroduction of something similar to ‘Scotland’s own’. A professionally presented, well put together year book, that anybody can get hold of, in which a number of the season’s top distance men from Scotland and further afield are invited to contribute a piece that could be of benefit to channel racing novices or old hands on whatever topic related to long distance racing they see fit.

It's finding the right people and financing independent of the SNFC and the SNRPC that would make it work.

No political agendas or bias; just a way of highlighting great, predominantly Scottish long distance pigeons and fanciers. In the hope that some find it interesting, maybe learn something and just generally raise a bit more interest towards long distance racing within the fancy.

Spread out the 4 channel races over 5-6 weeks instead of 3 weeks, added to this you could encourage fanciers to keep more long distance blood instead of sprint/middle distance doos that they are presently winning with from Newbury and Maidstone, the way to do this is to make it £6.00 per pigeon for the inland races and £2.00 per pigeon for the channel races. Yes its a little hastie, but too many fanciers want a easy SNFC ticket from the inland races instead of what the club was formed for (the channel).

It was pointed out on another thread a couple of nights ago that there isn't the same dept of quality that was around 20 years ago, and i have to agree, this down to the so called stepping stone of having inland nationals which is being polluted by sprint doos.

Rant over, though channel races over a 5-6 week period is a must.

you better punt all they cuesters you bought in then lol :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

I help with British strays reported over pond so yes clashing is a major factor and especially in our fed & lincs , UNC have right idea and are liberating channel on a Friday ;)

That's exactly what I thought when you made your original post. How does it become a reality though?

we are currently looking into doing a pigeon basics hall of fame where a handful of birds with top performances and top team performances are picked for the year

should help promote top fanicers and top birds in a small way

Never mind inland races

21st June. Ypres

4th July. Reims/alencon

11th July Troyes. And go with the snrpc. As a start of possible reconciliation

18th July. Clermont. /arras

If anyone wanted an inland race then go with their federations or amals/ combines

That will no be happening as there are 4 members of the SNRPC who will never fly a bird with the SNFC until such time as they get there suspensions lifted by going in front of the SHU.

Listen its no a political thing , just convoying together to a race ,lib together , a Scottish race controller , and. Only Scottish birds on transporter all coming into Scotland , not stopping half way up the road .and asking our great pigeons to keep going for another 200/300 miles .

comparisons wid be made by libbing the gether and folk dont like comparisons so it wont happen .
