Tony C Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 If you intend to train heavy I would leave them together.

eyesign123 Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 It is called the sliding door method and it Is the best way to race youngones. I would show the hens to cocks on a Friday night so they don't get over excited.
andyyy Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 I split the sexes off after the 1st race then show on a Friday they seem to try to race
ovy1255 Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 throw a few bowls on the floor stick two house bricks between them --pot them after they lay-dont worry if two hens lay in same nest and sit with a cock or two.
REDCHEQHEN Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 Youngsters are split about 10 days before the last old bird race Because the old birds are also split for racing - they are paired back together just before the last old bird race - and left together, so I have room to race the youngsters 'on roundabout'
