Winning pigeons need Very little recovery time, late comers may be different but your winner one week will be the late comer from the week before, especially with Yb's. So IMO, good food, a well ventilated loft and peace to rest is sufficient for them to recover from week to week in the shorter races and fortnightly for the longer races.

granted the winning birds recover quicker than the rest [most of the tine]

but the use of heaters + a thermostat creates optimum conditions

science is providing information all the time to improve an athletes and thats what we are dealing with

not just a bird but a line of the species inbred and tinkered with to doing something to its best ability

Paul Stobbs the man with the best results in the WDA in the last decade

apparenlty uses heaters and thermostats creating the the best enviroment for the best results

and believe me in amal races he is virtually unbeatable

Its all about expending energy, pigeons regulate their temperature by opening/closing their feathers so this crap about making them tough by keeping them in an aviary is nonsense.Have you ever been in a loft when its minus 10degrees, the birds look perfect. Therefore the cold doesnt affect them BUT it does burn up energy, hence them eating like fk in the winter.Thats why it is advisable, but not essential, to make them as comfy as poss after a race to aid recovery and SAVE ENERGY.

Good post mate,if it's not too late in the day when my racers home they get a warm bath ASAP and do they love it.YES.

I know what you are saying about the heaters making them soft.

But in a way I know if I had no heating on didn't get the right amount of rest that I needed the next day at work. You wort be able to give a 110% that's the way I was looking at it but maybe iv been looking at things the wrong way.

Thanks for all the post

Whisking everyone the very best for the upcoming season :animatedpigeons:
