Tony C Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 I would nuke them first as they're susceptible to mold.

soupie Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 how long do you microwave peanuts for cheers soupie
Guest strapper Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 ive fed all types of peanuts..if you suspect anything wrong with your purchase , then dont buy them. mine get all kinds of peanuts..and they eat loads..but if your not sure about the nuts then microwave them for 20secs..that should remove any unwanted nasties that maybe on them after standing around.
geordie1234 Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 Heard of fanciers using sedachol when feeding a lot of peanuts up to the distance races, apparently it cleans the liver

Wiley Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 We use peanuts for a reward here. Like all animals to teach them something they must be rewarded.
Guest Owen Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 I would not be without peanuts but I use them as a reward the same as Wiley does. In regard to the risks in feeding peanuts, I don't think the risk is worth taking. If there is any doubt about them chuck them in the bin. The point is that it would not be worth ruining good pigeons if things go wrong. That sort of thing comes under the heading of being penny wise and pound foolish.
yeboah Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 The only pigeon in my loft that gets peanuts that i purchase from the health food store is old horseshoehe is 18 this year and has one meal a day with 20 peanuts as his starter ,I intend pairing him to his daughter this summer with the hope of producing a daughter .
