thepigeonman Posted January 6, 2013 Report Posted January 6, 2013 Hi i Am looking to see if anybody knows off any sheds or lofts going free or cheap for new start i dont have job and have low incinération and want to start sport up thanks ross
Guest Owen Posted January 6, 2013 Report Posted January 6, 2013 The cheapest and best loft I know is the Red Rose Loft which is made from cheap material and works really well because the pigeons keep healthy.I reckon that you can make this loft for much less thn you would pay for a second hand shed.
thepigeonman Posted January 6, 2013 Author Report Posted January 6, 2013 How much would it cost do you know
andyyy Posted January 6, 2013 Report Posted January 6, 2013 Try looking on ebay and online adds, Might be able to get one cheap enough on there.
Guest Owen Posted January 6, 2013 Report Posted January 6, 2013 Well obviously the cost would be affected by several things. The size of the loft being the most important thing. Lets say it is the smallest loft you can manage with. 8 X 4.5 sheets of sterling board @ £14. 1 sheet of 18mm shuttering ply @ £16. Roof sheets second hand @ £1 per ft = £24. 3" X 2" 24' @ 50p = £12 screws and nails £12Total = Call it £80. Obviously if you can find some material either for nothing or cheaper you can do the job cheaper. I reckon that I can turn out this design of loft for less than £100 all day.You would be very lucky to find a shed cheaper and even if you did you would have to spend money on it to convert it into a loft.
thepigeonman Posted January 6, 2013 Author Report Posted January 6, 2013 Ok thanks i Am Gonna price it and look on eBay and tht thanks for help

Could barely make a rabbit hutch for £100 here.

Guest Owen Posted January 6, 2013 Report Posted January 6, 2013 andyyythe prices I have used are from Wicks. I have built several Red Rose Lofts and they are about the cheapest option. The best thing about them is that the birds love them. They are great for trapping and you should never see runny eyes or snotty noses. I have worked out a couple of ideas that cut the cost to lower than the ones I quoted. The drawing calls for 1" x 4" to cover the corners and the joints while I use Sterling board cut down to that size. The drawing calls for Sterling board under the sloping aviaries while I use wire netting on a frame which gives you even more air through the loft which gets the pigeons into brilliant condition. You can deflect the rain by using scaffolding net. The best place for the roof material is the local recycling yard where you should get a deal. At the end of the day if someone wants to do this badly enough they will find a way and get it done. I think the very worse thing is to get a shed and try to adapt it because it is very unlikely to be as suitable as a purpose built loft.

Nice loft, Well worth what you are asking for it.
