greenlands Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Looks like the birds think it's going to be an early winter, noticed yesterday the odd fieldfare in the hawthorn edges, they are landing in large flocks this morning
andy Burgess Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 the amount of geese migrating up here tells a story too
Ian McKay Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 I've still got a nest with swallows in what chance of them making it

Guest lambrechts31 Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Global warming is getting worse, but nobody seems to care about the future. :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

OLDYELLOW Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Robin been here last month , also seen geese going over last two weeks , my birds have fallen to bits real quick , tree out front been shedding leaves for some time now , definitely feeling much colder today , global warming me *expletive removed* I think all seasons have just rolled in to one but I do feel be another harsh winter fingers crossed Just hope next years weather much better than these last two years .
Ian McKay Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Robins been here for about a month and three Geese trying to land in the field next to the house yesterdayIt's freezing today and been raining all day
billt Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Are you talking about the common Robin,? It's with us the whole year
Ian McKay Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Don't see them to much in the summer but 2 here now and they are having a war :emoticon-0138-thinking:
OLDYELLOW Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 same here robin here most of year summer months hardly see them I thought they was migrating birds ???
OLDYELLOW Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Scandinavian and Russian Robins migrate to Britain and western Europe to escape the harsher winters. These migrants can be recognized by the greyer tone of the upper parts of their bodies and more orange breast.
billt Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Yes we do get migrants here but they are with us all year and as Ian says the are very aggressive to their own kind, they will fight to the death
Guest stb- Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 theres robins here all year round and breed in our garden and surrounding areas , they seem to have there own corner as when another lands in the wrong area they fight , feathers flying . The geese have been hear in hugh sceens all year going back and forth in the 1000,s at times , been in the feilds at a few of the local lochs all summer , most seem to have just stayed
Guest IB Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Been real chilly mornings & evenings - OBs are falling to bits in moult; leaves on trees are changing colour; and for over a week now the skies have been criss-crossed with geese heading south (at roof height) and gulls? heading north... I have a resident pair of Robins in the garden; no sign of cock breast turning red though...
