Ian McKay Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 On Saturday 8th September I had the pleasure of visiting Harry Hainey known to members as Harry h. Harry flies to the corner of a farmer's field in Inverurie. On arriving I was met by Harry and Davy the farmer who is there every Saturday to see the birds arriving home. Davy has been promoted to Loft Manager. The set up is small but special. When Harry decided to erect the loft known as The Little Loft on the Prairie it was in the middle of winter. Harry said it was a labour of love because of the weather conditions and went home with frost bite at the end of it. The field was overgrown so Harry set about cutting it down and as you will see in the photographs was definitely well worth it. Harry flies in the Inverurie club which is in the North of Scotland Federation. One day Harry arrived at the loft to find a caravan parked next to the loft. There was no one in it so Harry waited for Davy to arrive to be told he bought the caravan for Harry. Now the van was in very good condition but Harry said he did not want it. Well the outcome was that Davy said it cost £60 delivered and Harry could not get his wallet out quick enough! So on a Saturday the caravan provides a menu of Rolls with Bacon, Eggs, Black Pudding and good old Glasgow Square Sausage, Harry's favourite as he came from there, sometimes sausage rolls also Tea & Coffee When I arrived I was just in time to see the birds arriving and was soon supplied with a sumptuous food fayre and tea. Harry is known for forgetting to set up the ETS system as he explained he is too busy in the Food Fayre caravan doing his domestic chores. The neat loft and Food Fayre caravan Loft manager Davy on the left and the wee man
