We flew west 2011 with ybs and altough never got as far as race programme should have (weather problems) I had a much better return season than I have had on east and only been as far as thirs (132mines) how ever I do feel from here and out to newark are fine as its not actually the east coast I have a problem with its the area of durham. I am only going to ask a question and I have no idea on answer so thoughts.... Is it possible to start west then work round and down more the middle i.e head into places like newark, leic and things. As on map there more middle. Yeah I know birds would still come up east but that's fine. As we are east coast fed. But it would eliminate libbing birds in the durham area where it has already been national news on the losses there. Might sound crazy but I can't see why u can't start with longtowns and things then gradually work down middle as even tho we went west 2011 most of time the birds came east of penines anyways as when home they came out east side here anyways but returns where good on whole as I believe we never libbed durham area

Thats great returns! I have been to the SNFC yb nat 5/6 years losing more than 50% each time. Have had good results but not good returns. These ybs were raced on the east side of the country but when they got in the drag they went awol.

Liecester in the nat has always been a struggle for the Solway sect a!!!

I lost 28 young pigeons racing on the East last year and we only got as far as Sedgefield with Lanarkshire.

so far on the West I've lost 15 after 5 races 9at the 1st longtown race and only 1 race left

My vote will be West this year taking longtown out the programme

year last west coast started with 32 fin racing 28 (7 injured)

this year east coast started with 32 1 injured raced 31 29 left from 31

but only had 4 races to thirsk 132 mls last year 23 oldbirds killed around loft between 19th dec and 23rd feb bop 3 at a time

this year kept oldbirds in till 2 weeks before racing started 7 killed iv got more problems around loft than racing but loosing

birds just the same

brian if you look at map we do not fly on east coast we are more to the middle as for the west it is the same we do not fly on the coast as for returns west was definatly best just look at it this week there are 13 north road feds above us you dont have that problem on west route

Yeah but what I am asking peter is can it be done that we start at places like longtown and things and still end up at newark and leic for the 200+ races as I don't fancy another cheltenham race. Is it possible for that to happen if a club makes a proper route up at agm starting at longtown and then moving into middle as you say we do on east anyways

Posted

dinna be daft if you go west you go west if you go east you go east you dont want to start jumping pigeons all over the place you keep the pigeon on a line and stick to it

Posted

brian the other thing you are not taking into consideration is the further you go down on the east side the more north roaders you have above you did you not read my earlier reply about this week 13 north road feds above us and thats the ones that I know off

if you look at all the so called east route its really down the middle of the country and at some libs points theres not much more than 25 miles from the so called east and west

Peter your not making any sense mate!! One min my idea is "daft" then your agreeing there is no diff between east or west when you get to about 200 miles... So instead of going otterburn, conset thirsk ripon then into newark why can't we go west side i.e longtown and so with then after 5 races still end up at the likes of newark and leicster as you have already said there is no diff in it from west due to being in middle! So explain why its such a stupid idea! The birds are not jumping all over the place. There starting on west then working into middle. Same as starting on east and working into missle. As of the 13 north roaders there is not a lot that can be done. U wanna ban guys flying the north road?

when folk used to send there birds to beatock etc with the train do you think the gaurd said oh theres doos are from ayrshire these are from edinburgh these are from perth so ill let them go at 15 min intervals and the rest of the passengers can just waite ,

aye right they were all libbed at the one time and it wasny a problem then :emoticon-0167-beer::emoticon-0167-beer:

brian your not getting my point about the problems on the east side with clashing ther I have pointed out a problem this week with all these feds above us this is the problem controllers have down east if it all goes wrong who do you blame certainally not the route

But if we just go an all out west what happens at the 250+ races where we joint convoyed with SNFC. Could fed afford to go down with a few hundred birds on motor? As if we go the normal west race points like stafford and what not then we'd be unable to go with SNFC. Now if we did as I suggested and started at race points like longtown then down west slowly working in land till we reached the same race point as national we'd elimanate the risk of clashing in races under 250 miles... Take out the libbing in places like otterburn, witton castle, thirsk, ripon. Just the whole nightmare of durham area and still be able to convoy with national at the 250+ mile races as we'd be over the middle with them by that point
