cheers m8 was looking at 1 on ebay which had been converted to take race rubbers, would that been ok ??

If you buy a second hand T3 clock try to find one local then you can ask a few questions about it,such as how old it is ,when it will require a new battery. If you contact Linnell with the clock number they will give you all info required. As Wiley says a mentor would be the first step unless you have already been visiting another fanciers loft.

Good luck.

The most important thing you will need is someone to show you what to do. There will be plenty of advice for you but most of it will be offered by people who do not know how to win races themselves. Try to find someone who wins regularly and listen carefully to what they tell you. As has already been said, do not bring birds to your loft unless they are either winners or genuinely from winners. Avoid the Salesmen and the Studs because they are in business to take your money from you and they will not mind telling a few fibs to get at your cash.

I believe that the best birds will come from Entire Clearance Sales where the Fancier has decided to finish. Do not get into the habit of accepting that there are Strains of Racing Pigeons because there are not. A lot of the so called Strain Makers have been dead years ago and others have bred from their birds in ways that will have corrupted the original selection criteria. Besides that many of the famous Fanciers from the past bought birds in all the time and rather than pure bred pigeons they actually had crosses. Only you know if you are serious about winning races but if you are you really must allow racing performance to be your guide to selection. Test every birds on the road and only breed from the best ones. Pigeon Racing is like most sports in that you need to pay attention to detail because winning is about getting lots of little things right. Last but definitely not least, do not get involved in the quick routes to success. Judge your birds by what they do and do not get conned into handling, eyesign, form spot and a whole list of other crazy ideas because none of it is worth a second look. It is healthy fit pigeons fed properly and trained well that win.

standard back garden lofts in a not so good location is what i look for that is winning or up well in federations when not many others in there location is not on the fed sheet buying from big fancy lofts can be a mistake too as often you cant replicate what in the fancy lofts

buying birds winning in the golden mile can be a mistake unless your in the golden mile yourself
