genetics go much more complex than that and its quite difficult to find out all about it.there is a genetics calculator on the npa site.

Nothing wrong with the list for basic colours but gets more complicated when looking at recesive and dilute colours!

I have an ash red and a yellow paired up anyone got an idea what i will get tried but dont have a clue

 

Are they t-cheq, cheq, bar or barless then and which one is the cock and which one is the hen?

If it's a Red cock and a Yellow hen you will get Reds, Mealy's, Blues and Cheqs unless the Red is bred from or carries the Yellow gene in which case you will get yellow/cream as well.

 

If the Red Cock doesn't carry Yellow the sons from this pair will carry yellow and paired back to a Yellow will breed Yellows.

thnx for that yes it is a meally cock to a yellow hen so its pot luck really giving the youngsters to the father in law as he only has all blues so will be interesting to see what comes out thnx for replies
