Guest geordiejen Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 genetics go much more complex than that and its quite difficult to find out all about it.there is a genetics calculator on the npa site.
Guest ljb107 Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 I'd never go by that chart, its not very good. You'd be better off using this or just asking questions - http://www.national-federation.co.uk/Pigeon_Calculator_Advanced.htm Lloyd
pjc Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 Nothing wrong with the list for basic colours but gets more complicated when looking at recesive and dilute colours!
Wiley Posted July 16, 2012 Author Report Posted July 16, 2012 Phil what does recessive mean regarding colour? I only wanted the basic that this chart has given me

Guest ljb107 Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 I have an ash red and a yellow paired up anyone got an idea what i will get tried but dont have a clue Are they t-cheq, cheq, bar or barless then and which one is the cock and which one is the hen?
Tony C Posted July 16, 2012 Report Posted July 16, 2012 Have found this fella helpful, email him with any queries http://www.angelfire.com/ga/huntleyloft/Page1.html
Wiley Posted July 16, 2012 Author Report Posted July 16, 2012 Tony that's an excellent website good reading there
pjc Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 I have an ash red and a yellow paired up anyone got an idea what i will get tried but dont have a clue If it's a Red cock and a Yellow hen you will get Reds, Mealy's, Blues and Cheqs unless the Red is bred from or carries the Yellow gene in which case you will get yellow/cream as well. If the Red Cock doesn't carry Yellow the sons from this pair will carry yellow and paired back to a Yellow will breed Yellows.
PIGEONPACKMAN Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 thnx for that yes it is a meally cock to a yellow hen so its pot luck really giving the youngsters to the father in law as he only has all blues so will be interesting to see what comes out thnx for replies
