Chris Little Posted July 12, 2009 Author Report Posted July 12, 2009 Oooh touchy Football World Cup...... what's that ;D ;D
Guest mick bowler Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 Trouble is to those that don't (or did'nt) play cricket they think its just about hitting the ball as many times as you can. Although this outwardly looks like the Aussies are fair superior, this game was always going to be won on the spin of the toss. The drying pitch made for a run feast, but with the damp weather returning its turned it back to a bowling pitch, very hard to bat against! Only mistake England made was batting first!!
Guest Owen Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 mick bowler I bow to your superior knowledge. Could you answer why the Aussies seem to bowl on a bowler's pitch and bat on a batsman's pitch most of the time?

Could you answer why the Aussies seem to bowl on a bowler's pitch and bat on a batsman's pitch most of the time? Superior knowledge? did i say that, i was just pointng out why Ozzies can hit 600 + then we struggle to get thru a day batting in the next innings. As for your question, without a doubt they are the best cricket team in the world with the best players, always making the best of the wicket. But as a nation that has virtually made cricket their national sport, apart from rugby, with national academies etc , (funded by the government)for the last 20 odd years would you expect anything else. They raised the bar and so far no one has come anywhere near matching it when it comes to development of players.
Roland Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 Oooh touchy Football World Cup...... what's that ;D ;D True Chris.... you lot are whinging that we didnae use any of you playing fields (Stadiums down here lol) Mind understanable I guess.... After all the nearest you'll ever get to a world cup I guess. ;D ;D ;D
Roland Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 Of course I was refering to the 1966 World cup...
Roland Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 But we drew with the Aussies then. Think they are relieved that there was some rain eh! lol ;D ;D
frank-123 Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 great fighting spirit from collingwood if kp and freddie don't get the finger out i can see the aussie's winning easily
Guest Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 From someone born and bred in Wales but of English 50% ( I think), Welsh 33% and Irish 17% breeding, I love cricket and as a psuedo Welshman I was very proud to captain a team in The Huddersfield league until I was 50! I was very proud of the performance today, no doubt the Aussies stuffed us for most of the match but they weren't good enough to finish it. We played poor, if we get our act together and play well we can beat this lot. How's the curling going Chris,?
Chris Little Posted July 12, 2009 Author Report Posted July 12, 2009 Curling is coming on a treat, might even impress the winter olympic selectors England showed some determination today, the Aussies were by far the better side but as you say couldn't finish it off.
