THE FIFER Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 yes the monies will be donated to the 45 Commando Lovat Lodge which is solely run and maintained by 45 CDO, the facility allows their men with their families to enjoy some well earned rehabilitation time away from the demands of Afghanistan and other operational posts, and is much appreciated by them, I have a Letter from the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Tanner, thanking the members of basics, which will be noted on site along with photos of the presentation, another well done to the basic members, and thanks to wings for his help and organising things and Ian once more for his great job on the charity Administration. this must help those lads to get back to normal. well done basics.

sapper756 Posted June 12, 2012 Author Report Posted June 12, 2012 What a brilliant day Fifer and myself have spent with the lads of 45 Commando, we were made very welcome, and for 6hours taken around the whole camp, fed lunch in the Sergeants mess, and finished the day off, with firing various weapons in the indoor firing range. BRILLIANT!http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0137-clapping.gif I wasted a few Talibanhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0136-giggle.gif To see a 78 year old Fifer, lying on the floor firing a GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun) was invaluablehttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/happy.gif(photos, to follow) The OC, RSM, WO11 and our very own site member "wings" aka Lee, gave us a day that will stay with us for a long timehttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0137-clapping.gif They were very appreciative of the money that the Basics members raised and donated to their fund,http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0137-clapping.gif So to you wings, I would like to say thank you m8, you are a true gentleman and a genuine bloke.I wish all the heroes of 45 Commando all the best and God Bless them all. I think my time on the firing range, will come back to haunt me tomorrow, when the pain finally sets in.http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0138-thinking.gif WELL DONE TO THE BASICS MEMBERS ONCE AGAINhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0137-clapping.gif it was an honor representing the site at the presentation of this donation. sapper756 Posted June 14, 2012 Author Report Posted June 14, 2012 Following our presentation of the Basics cheque to 45 Commando, I thought on the anniversary of the Falklands war, it would be fitting to pay respect to the Commandos who lost their lives back in 1982 liberating the Falklands.
